I am tearing my hair out

I am tearing my hair out

First place we were going to have the eparty at was too small because his family wants more than 50 people. Ok so then we were going to look into a VW / KoC hall..then his parents (who are paying) got totally into the idea of renting a boat out of Freeport and making the eparty that way. Sounds good in theory but then we have my 90 yr old grandma to worry about, people who may only want to come for a certain amount of time & won't want to get stuck out on a boat..and maybe people getting seasick..so that's out.

So now we have NO idea where to have this eparty. It seems anywhere in Nassau / Western Suffolk is good. Ideas? Where did you have yours?

To add to my misery it seems our mothers spoke and it sounds like his parents don't want to pay extra to have their huge family come. My parents will probably pay for up to 50 of their guests, I'm paying part, and I had assumed they would pay a share but it sounds like they'd rather put it towards a present for us..which is fine, but now we have to look for a smaller guarantee # when we book somewhere because I have a tiny family.

This isn't going to get easier is it?

we had our eparty at the vfw in farmingdale and everyone had a great time. i'd stick with a hall, with a boat, too many logistics involved. plus the seasickness you mentioned. imo, i wouldn't go to an eparty if it was going to be on a boat. if the boat stayed docked, thats a different story. but i vote for a hall.

p.s. - it WILL get easier - dealing with 2 families is enough to drive anyone bananas

Thanks, they're already driving me crazy!

Were you allowed to bring your own caterer in at the hall?

WE HAD OUR ENGAGEMENT PARTY AND EVERYONE CHIPPED IN. IT WAS MADE CLEAR THAT IF ANY EXTRA PEOPLE WERE INVITED YOU ARE PAYING. SAME GOES FOR THE WEDDING!!!! IT JUST GETS TO EXPENSIVE.

Well, when all is said and done we're going to have like (I'm not joking) 10-15 people at most come from my side for the e-party so it's not like a big deal to his family.

So apparently his family wants to invite their huge family to the e-party but not invite them to the wedding because they don't want to chip in more..it seems.

Isn't that awkward?!?! I was going to give out STD magnets at the eparty but forget about that now..

We're having a similar problem (sort of) but we had ours at the Elks in Massapequa b/c FH grandpa runs it and they have all their family events there (including Thanksgiving since they have close to 120 people come) but KoC in Seaford off Jackson Ave. is really nice too.

His family threw us the e-party but my mom didn't want to invite anyone so we had maybe 15 people - but now my mom insists th ebrides family cant be outnumbered by the grooms and wont allow anymore than 70 on his side to be invited to the wedding - which is going to be awkward since there were 120 at the e-party atleast.

Ah ha, so I'm not the only one going through this. I just hope they don't think it's my family who is responsible for their lack of a wedding invite.
