I am trying to figure out what I should 'be' when I grow up

there are two things I love to do (well, four...but two I am willing to make money doing at this juncture)

I love cooking.

I love writing.

I don't have a lot of confidence that I'd be able to do either professionally, as much as I'd like to.

I wish there was a test I could take LOL.

I'd at least like to test the waters, but I honestly don't know where to begin.

You can take one of those tests that tell you what you should be.

I still don't know what I wanna be when I grow up...but I love cooking too....

I have a test.

I took it and I am supposed to be a singing telegram lady.

I am dead serious.

I will mail it to ya tomorrow if you want it.

didn't I tell you to send one of those to your friend

send it to me.

but I really meant, I wish there was a 'test' to tell me if my sauce has good seasoning...if people would pay to eat my food...that sort of thing...

or if people are interesting in reading about what I have to say...if I can make them feel what I feel through my words...if I can move people, make them laugh cry...feel inspired...move them to open their wallets and purchase the book/magazine these words are in...

sure yeah, totally. no problem.

When I cook using premade items (jar sauce, mixes), I think of you and feel guilty. I am totaly serious too!

I could see you doing a combo of those news reporters who strip while reporting and a cooking show. Genius.

You could write cookbooks.

I also think of you and feel guilty when I cook with jar sauce.

Writing..I would try submitting articles to magazines, blogs, other online things, etc. to test the waters

I would also love to make writing a career..of course I don't take my own advice..

why don't you apply for a job @ Conde Nast? I used to work at Gourmet Magazine w/ Sarah Moulton and I loved that job.

I love food. I love reading.

You could write a cookbook and test out all the recipes on me.

You know what, I was thinking the SAME thing...Jess I think you'll love it...why don't you do it as a side gig for now (in addition to your job), get your diploma/license or whatever, see if you like it and then you can work in some fancy schmancy restaurant or hotel or whatever and wherever...if you ever move, even if to Italy, you'll have no problem with finding a job that you LOVE...

Me to! You should TOTALLY do this! I would LOVE to go to cooking school. They usually have a night school available for us working stiffs. I agree, look into it!

It is all about just taking that initial risk. I think you can do it. Good luck!
