How was it? I meant to watch it but got caught up in (disappointing) Trading Spaces. Will it be on again? I'd love to see it...

I saw it.
Cybil Shepard really played her part. It made me hate Martha. My goodness was she mean.
They really glossed over the whole scandal thing didn't they?

The book was 200x time better than the movie. The movie was very one sided and pretty much left out some of the most important parts of her life for teh sake of making it a 2 hour movie.
After reading the book - you still hate her, but you really understand her life. The movie doesnt do that at all - she is just made out to be an evil witch.

I saw it too. I feel kind of bad for her. yes, she is most def a biatch, but still... She made herself successful with her own hands and provided money for her family, very good money. I think she married the wrong person. her husband and her didn't seem to fit together, very different people. she is too strong for him.

I knew someone who used to work for her company and everyone hated her. She was always yelling.
I thought Cybil did a good job. Lifetime always reairs their movies......I'm sure it will play again.

Re: I am watching the Martha Stewart movie on Lifetime
Im always shocked when i hear women talk about hating Martha.
Even is she is not the nicest person in the world, she made an incredible business empire from virtually nothing. If nothing more than giving thousands of people jobs - that is something to be admired.
Im sure making yourself that sucessful comes at a major price to the enjoyment of her life and her methods are questionable to say the least. But you never see a man who has made a huge sucess of himself scrutinized in the very personal ways everyone scrutinized Martha. You dont often see a book saying how (insert male business sucess here) is a terrible husband and father.
As i said, the movie does not show many of the important elements of her life and her strategies. Reading the book is a must before crucifying her.

I ahve not read the book nor seen the movie, but I find that any women that is successflu, is a ***** where if a man did the same thing, he is not looked down upon.
Very sad world we live in, where women are not treated as equals in the business world.

Exactly what Stef and Shelzyp said! It also really rubbed me the wrong way when everyone jumped on her case with this whole stock issue! I bet you anything that so many people do the same exact thing and just never found out, of if they are, nobody makes a big deal out of it! It just because she is a powerful woman with character everyone went: 'oh, she is a bad mother and wife, AND she does what now?? Bad, bad Martha Stuart!' Please!! (Shrug)
