Okay Heres the story.... and to make an extremely long story short...
My FI cousin got engaged around the same time Anthony & I did... (Back in 2004). I finally asked her (Lorena) to be in my bridal party today!!!! Sadly, she told me she wasn't having any intentions of asking me. I am completely heartbroken although when she asked me If I was upset, I lied and said 'no'. But truthfully, I am
She accepted and said shes honored!
I dont know If I should be happy that she accepted or heartbroken that Im not in hers because I kind of really wanted to be in hers. Im feeling lots of mixed emotions although her not asking me really didn't change my mind about having her in mine. I love her and always considered her a cousin to me.
After I got of the phone with her, I kind of held back tears, although at the same time feel so releved to have FINALLY ASKED her (I've been meaning to for the LONGEST TIME) and releaved to know if she was going to ask me or not...
Ugghhh... picking the bridal party is so hard. Im just so heartbroken. Im not mad at her at all though.. I just dont know what to feel right now because I have so many different emotions running through me right now.
Sorry ladies.. thanks for reading.. I had to express my thoughts.. I told me fioncee and hes a typical guy... he didn't know what to say in this situation.

Hey Kathleen,
You know.. I dont even think that I would accept even if she did because then I would know she only asked me because I asked her to be in mine. Its a weird situation to be in.

Janie,
I'm sorry you are feeling so , but you made the decision to have her in your wedding party b/c you truly wanted her there (right?), just b/c she did not pick you to be in hers shouldn't change that.
Also, is there any chance she may feel she was picked at the last minute...as a 2nd thought?
You're going to be so busy with planning your wedding & running around & spending $, think of the $$ you are saving by not being in her wedding. Maybe she felt it would be a burden for you or maybe she has another job for you in mind (reading or such). Has she already picked her wedding party?
I know you feel and I truly don't blame you. I'd feel sad and disappointed and I'm sure part of me would doubt my decision with asking her, but things will work out for the best.

Re: I asked my 6th (& final bridesmaid)...and
i have kind of a similar situation. i had asked my cousin to be in my wedding the same weekend we got engaged. she said yes and was super excited. so time goes by and nothing changes and i hear that she is getting married, well i kind of expected to be in the bp, but i was never asked. i never asked her about it, mostly b/c the wedding never happened. but i was hurt that she didn't ask me - but there are no laws that say you have to ask people to be in your wedding if you were in theres. but it just s uc ks.

Re: I asked my 6th (& final bridesmaid)...and
Don't be upset....I think picking a bridal party is one of the most stressful parts of getting married! Especially if you and your fh have many siblings and friends...it's hard to pick without insulting others....i became so overwhelmed that i decided not to have one...i am just having my sis as a moh and his brother as bm...and our nieces as fg's it upsets me to think of my best friends not being next to me...but in the long run i think it is going to spare some feelings from the people i would have had to dissapoint.........buttom line...i am sure she cares about you...and i am sure she feels bad......

Congratulations- you're BP is complete!!! And, don't worry about not being in hers. It doesn't mean the two of you are not as close as you think you are. Maybe there is a reason behind it that you don't know about- maybe she thought you might be too much time and money while planning your own wedding.

Re: I asked my 6th (& final bridesmaid)...and
It can be a very difficult thing. I decided not to have either my siblings or FH's siblings in our bridal party. There would have been an insane amount of people in the BP and I need an entourage like a hole in the head. Instead I chose to include my neices and nephews to represent my family with a couple of friends. A bridal party that could have been as much as 12 people on my side was reduced to 7.
It bothers me when people say they were forced to choose people because their mothers told them to or they would be killed if they didnt. We all have to do what is right for us and no one should question it. It is no one's business.
