how much a church costs to hold a ceremony..... I just got info in the mail from this church i want to have our ceremony at and after you add up everything they charge for its like $1200....thats ridiculous!!!!!! Arent churchs supposed to be non profit???? I expected to make a donation to the pastor and pay for the ceremony music but they charge to rent the chapel, cleaning fees, a wedding coordinator, and a couple of other things.....I dont know what to do I dont have it in my budget to spend that much for a church....

My local parish is only charging us $400 plus $50 for precana.

That is a lot of money. I'm not sure yet about the church we're in now, but my old church all you had to do was donate a 'suggested' amount of like 200.00

I agree but I have heard of some parishes charges A LOT of money to get married there especially if you're not parishoners.
Is it a regular church or like a cathedral?

A few things.... find out how much it costs for parishoners of the church, if it's less expensive, register as a parishoner (we had to do that and it knocked the cost down about $200).... find out the cost without their music, your dj may be able to do the ceremony music for very little extra onto your dj package.... find out all extras included in that price and see what you can cut out, they may not be telling you things that are included that are optional... this may sound really bad, but considering that what you 'pay' the church is considered a donation, it's an automatic tax write-off.

It is cheaper if you belong......but what do you do in that case just start going to sunday mass? We have never really been into religion.....I just want to get married in a church because i think they are sooooo beautiful, the whole ceremony probably wont last more than a while 30 minutes. They have a chapel which is $375 and a sanctury that is $475.....

Ours is close to that price...$500 goes for a donation, also pre-cana classes are included in the price which is like 300 i think...I am almost sure the whole price is $1,075 ill double check later

That seems very expensive! My church is going to cost 500 and I thought even that was kind of high! At one point I was looking into getting married at St. Patricks Cathedral and they charge something around $1500 but they are one of the most famous cathedrals in the world!!

yeah but dont forget about other things that you will have to pay later on...Like my church included all our fees including the pre-cana and just so you know many will require a donation.

Everywhere I have been looking is on East Ave(not like any of you know where that is) but its like a really really rich part of rochester......i just didnt expect that churchs where out to make a profit off of a wedding(or anything for that matter).....I guess i will have to start looking down in the ghetto to find something in my price range LOL........

honestly like i said in my post above most people in the end will pay that much...Pre-cana is a couple hundred dollars so add that to the $400-500 they have to pay, plus they will have to give a donation too...If your church doesnt include the pre-cana and donation then that is different to add those fees to the $1200, if its included its not bad

my fee is 400...plus 100 for music (organist), and 150 for pre-cana...i didnt think this was too bad! i am just happy to be married in the church i grew up in. i didnt realize u could write it off, that is a great point!
