This past weekend DF's sister got married in Florida. She was engaged 2 months before me but picked her date 6 months after I did. DF has an aunt, uncle and 2 cousins who live in MN and would have to travel for both weddings. I just found out that his aunt and uncle will most likely not attend our wedding b/c his uncle hates to travel and won't let his wife take 2 trips by herself in such a short period of time(he didn't attend the Fl wedding). One cousin won't be able to come b/c she can't take the time off of work. Normally Iwould understand but she is taking almost all of May off of work to go camping and on vacation with some of her friends. WHAT!!!!!! They have known about our wedding since last April!!! The other cousin can't come again because of work. She took a week off to go to FL for the wedding and last month was invited to spend a week in Las Vegas at a friends timeshare which will be a week and a half after our wedding. Again WHAT!!!! This is a wedding that they have known about for a year but it is more inportant to go to his sister's wedding for a week and take vacations with friends than attend DF's wedding. What is wrong with people?????? I feel so bad for DF.

I dont want to come off as harsh but honestly when it comes to OOT guests and our weddings They do not plan their lives around it. I recently was in a OOT wedding and had to cut down the time I was supposed to spend there b/c I didnt have enough vacation time to go for things that I had planned for my own personal life. OOT guest are taking time out of their own schedules and finances to come to your weddings

Yes it is my fiance's family. Sorry I used the wrong abbreviations. Ivillage usually uses DF for dear fiance.
I don't expect them to spend a week with us. The wedding is on Sturday morning so all they really need to do is fly out on Friday, fly back on Sunday.

Honestly, I know it is upsetting when OOT relatives tell you that they can't make it to the wedding. Speaking from experience, attending a wedding in a different state is difficult. It is expensive and time consuming and maybe some people just can't afford it or take the time off. I wouldn't let it get you down! You will have a plenty of other people who love you and FH there to share your special day!

I can understand not being able to take time off of work or not being able to afford the trip. But to flat out tell me it's because they would rather spend a month camping with friends and going to Vegas for nearly 2 weeks with friends than to come to a close relatives wedding for a weekend annoys me. They didn't need to tell us this. Just say I'm sorry we can't make it. Not we have better things to do than come to your wedding.

ya its upsetting when people dont find it as important as going on vaca with friends even though they knew about it beforehand. Its def frustrating! Im sorry!!

I'm sorry Date Twin! It stinks but not everyone has our weddings on their mind. It's stupid that they couldn't have just declined instead of telling you they don't want to come to your wedding.
