I can't believe I did this!!!!!!
So, I went to a bridal showcase and fell in LOVE with a DJ who ended up pretty much trying to screw us out of like, $500-$800 with the package he was INSISTING we get, amoung other things. So we were like...yeah....NO THANKS.
SO I got a follow up call from the owner of the company. And he asked me how I liked the show and I told him that it was actually exactly what we were looking for, but that we decided not to go with them. And when he asked me why, I was trying to quickly come up with some BS to get him off the phone. But for some reason I said 'you know what...I am going to be totally honest here...' And I gave him an EXTREMELY detailed account of exactly what happened. Ladies, I ended up being on the phone with this guy for like 45 mins. And I was telling him everything I thought and felt and he was interested and I could tell he was writing things down. And I was so polite and actually pretty funny and light-hearted...and towards the end, I wrapped it up with this KILLER closer:
'Listen, I know that this is a business. I know that even for the vendors I have dealt with that have pretty much convinced me that the only thing they care about is MY DAY and MY WEDDING, BUSINESS is the bottom line. And I am not mad at that. I just appreciate the willingness on their part to participate in the 'you and your wedding are the only things that matter' song and dance, and the at least minimal amount of honesty regarding what my options are. I am not buying a car from you guy. And if someone is being this brand of dishonest at this early juncture of something as intimate as a wedding, what can I expect from you closer when it actually matters?'
LADIES I felt like a champion! And since I was just so nice, and funny it wasn't like that whole 'who cares what this crazy girl is saying she is just a nasty girl' thing. It was like a real conversation and he was asking me more questions and I just felt great about it. And afterwards we were watching the Olympics. It was like victory central in my house!
