I would like to know everyone's thoughts on this ...
I am getting married in 2 months and I called the hair salon to confirm up my appointments for hair and make-up. I had a hair trial there in November. I am getting married on a Friday. I told the 'Bridal Coordinator' that I would like to come in at 8:00 am. I have shoulder length curly hair that needs to be blown straight to do my up-do. When I had the trial it took 2 hours to complete everything. Along with me, 3 of my BM are getting their hair and make-up done as well. Over all the entire bill for all of us will be over $600. She proceeds to tell me that because I want to schedule an early appointment they will have to charge me an additional $125! I almost flipped!!! Is this the new BS that’s going on with Salons now? I am completely shell shocked. I told her, either you waive the fee or else I am going someplace else. She told me she would have to call me back. Can you imagine? I am at the point where I don’t even want to give them my business. Is this the new trend for hair Salons? Has anyone else experience this? Your thoughts please.

Re: I can't believe the nerve !!!
I am going to the place where I get my hair cut. My stylist has been doing my hair for over 10 years. She has done many formal up do's for me.
Its a free trial and she is very inexpensive. If I go in with my BP and my mom, I am free.
She is really good and very reasonable so to hear a salon do this is beyond shocking to me

Re: I can't believe the nerve !!!
I am not aware of any trend, this sounds ridiculous. 8AM is not an unreasonable time for a bride to start getting ready and if they do alot of wedding work (which I am assuming they do because you mentioned a bridal coordinator) they should be prepared to do this as part of the service. I would be angry too.
If they have to open the salon earlier then they normally do I think that they charge...sorry
edited to say: nothing stopping you from going somewhere else though if you don't feel comfortable

I have heard of salons that do charge extra if they need to open the salon before regular hours. I suppose that's one way they can make lots of money.

that's terrible! the girl who does my highlights offered to do my hair (even on a Sunday when the shop is closed!) meaning opening the store for me & BP alone!!!! and never mentioned one word of an extra charge......

Sorry, but I have to agree with Yabbo, If you went to in work earlier you'd expect to get paid for it wouldn't you? I do agree $125 does sound like a bit much. Try to shop around or find a salon that opens earlier.

Re: I can't believe the nerve !!!
what time on that friday are you getting married? could you possibly push your appt back until the shop normally opens? i'm guessing it probably opens at 9?
i have also heard that if you request an appt time outside of their normal business hours, they do charge a fee (same thing with make-up people if they have to be to you super early).
good luck!!

I really feel like I was taken advantage of. This topic of conversation never came up before and now I might have to scramble and find another Hair Salon. Brides beware, I guess is just another thing you have to ask when dealing with a Wedding.

when you called to originally schedule your appt, did they mention the fee to you? i agree, it's wrong if they had you in their book for that early time and never previously mentioned anything about a fee.
