i cant believe this is where i WORK

So, I am on a special detail at work and in a 'classroom' setting and not in my normal cubicle.

This detail is pretty intense and everyone is usually very quiet in there and basically does their work. This woman who is NOT involved with the detail walks in and she is talking to some of the women but VERY loudly and disrupting everyone.

Out of nowhere she looks at the girl next to me and says 'Why are you cutting your eyes at me' and the girl, who is the sweetest girl in the whold world looks all shocked and she has NO idea what hte lady is talking about.

So, she starts calling the girl a liar and screaming at her. Since I am an idiot I try to diffuse the situation and I say 'Oh don't worry she was rolling her eyes at me not you' and she misinterprets it and starts saying that the girl was REALLY roling her eyes at ME. Of course, I get all uncomfortable and explain that I was only teasing, and that the girl is very nice and she must have misunderstood. SO she starts screaming at me that i am a LIAR and why did i say the girl was rolling her eyes at me when she wasnt. . .

Now, i get anxiety and everyone in the whole class is looking at me so i turn bright red and I quietly ask her to stop it bc she is making me blush and to just drop it.

Then she over the top starts MIMICING me and fanning her face and screaming 'oh i am a blushing liar, i am a blushing liar!!!!'

so now i break out into HIVES, i feel my face and my ears on fire and i just look down and hope she leaves and eventually she does

i found out AFTER ( of course ) that she is a known alcoholic and comes into work drunk and causes trouble

i never hated anyone as much as i hate this woman and i only talked to her once

like what hte heck!?! she ruined my whole day and now i cant wait to get out of this detail bc i feel like someone should have SAID something to her ( she was obviously in there talking to her friends so they could have stopped her )

wow!!!!!!!! I am sorry...I thought I worked with some crazies...and I do...but this takes the cake...

aww tilde you were just trying to do the right thing!!! your a better personn then i would have have B!TCHED that woman out and probaly lost my job!

omg that is awful. i am sorry you went through that. alcoholics are the worst kind of people to deal with. they get so irrational

I never understand how people like this keep their job and dont get reprimanded - yet other people make and inisant mistake or get a little loud or do nothing, get reprimanded... she should be fired for such an outburst

oh no matilde, that is terrible! If she is a known alcohol and does this often why aren't they sending her for help? That's ridiculous. I'm sorry about your reaction, you handled it so well, most people would have decked her. It's so nice of you to stand up for what you know is right (or wrong in this matter.) The girl you stood up for is so lucky to have you as a co-worker/friend. Don't let some alcoholic biatch ruin your day, or week! I think we're very similar and this episode would effect my whole weekend too, I dwell on things like this. Maybe you can leave her a bottle of tequila as a peace offering and just hope she drinks enough to pass out so she can't speak that way to anyone else ?

and as for this woman, i guess its just an 'open secret' and she is probably so obnoxious that no one wants to help her!
and thanks for the compliments i felt so bad for the girl she was picking on ( before me LOL ) bc she is SO nice and i just met her and she has been so kind to me! and then she was trying to say 'i just looked up, i am allowed to do whatever i want right?' and THAT made scary lady blow up even MORE!

I feel like I'm reading my own words, we're so alike. I had an incident at work a few months ago where I was verbally attacked by another co-worker, all over a misunderstanding, and I had to wait until the next day to tell FH because every time I thought about it, it made me cry. I still think about it and get upset. It's so hard to believe that other human beings can treat people this way. Especially people they have to see 5 days a week at work! This woman just sounds like a complete a*hole, normally when someone sees they've made another person visibly upset they apologize or stop their behavior, not continue to ridicule the person. Feel sorry for her that she has to live through life like the a$shole she is. How happy can she be, really?

Oh that's awful. I don't even know what I would have done in that situation. I think just standing back and letting it play out and then die down was best - if you had tried a snappy retort or something, who knows what would have happened?

Hey, at least she didn't bring any bedbugs in with her, right?

Seriously! That is harassment and nobody should be subjected to that!!!! Report it to HR. I can't believe that if it's known she comes to work drunk and treats people that way that it's still OK! No way!!
