I can't decide on a venue

I can't decide on a venue

I all. I am new to the site and need some help picking a venue. I plan to get married Aug 30th, 2009 being that my original sep 6th date was taken everywhere. I've been to villa barone, marina del rey,the fountainhead, vip, the surf club, beckwithe pointe and the sandcastle. I love the sandcastle because you get alot for your money but the decor is a little to much in terms of the castle theme. It's too medieval for me. I have a princess fairytale theme but not medieval. I've always wanted to get married at the surf club but the menu isn't to appealing to fh. I love italian food but my fh not so much. They're prices are also outrageous compared to other venues. The fountainhead is great in terms of the menu but I don't like they're payment schedule and the location isn't the greatest. I'm so frustrated
These are my RH must haves:
good food
preferably 1 wedding at a time
great photo shots inside if it rains
offer tastings
has excellent viennese
not to far from the bronx
I have a guest list of 200 so I want a place with a big dancefloor.

Re: I can't decide on a venue

Theres a section on this website tht it shows you a majority of the most popuar RHs on the island... I would go to each website, and mark down the ones that strike your interest the most. Then, I would get email addressses and inquire on rough quotes and read reviwes for each hall. That is how I went about it. I narrowed it down to about 5...physically went to all 5 with FH... and then we came to a final decision. We KNEW once we walked into ours...

Good LUCK!!!

hi! i got married at the fountainhead a month ago. what was wrong with the payment schedule, if you dont mind me asking? it was really flexible for us. i dont even think i handed in the last 2 payments - just paid everything on the last payment. I agree the area is not spectacular but once youre inside, you dont even care. If youre looking for a good vienesse, FH's is awesome. i have pics in my album, we had a great time. and i love their marble dance floor and its pretty big. if you need any help with anything, let me know!

Re: I can't decide on a venue

Thanks everyone I will look into your suggestions. The fountainhead was going to be the venue but then they said they wanted 500 down then ten days later 20% which would be almost $6000 and then I think 2 more 20% then a 30% and then the final payment. we have other vendors to pay and have a baby. I can't tie up all my money like that especially since my dad isn't well. We want a venue where we pay the deposit and then make monthly payments so that we are not making bulk payments. I am going to go back to the fountainhead to see if they will quote a better price (my dad's a great negotiater should have brought him the first time) but i've been there twice already and I don't want to seem like a bother to them. I also don't like the fact that you have to use their florist. When I called arcadia they told me that they could not speak to me about prices until I book the hall. I'm afraid if I bbok the fountainhead the flowers are going to be too expensive.

by the way jessica08bride we saw your album and that's why we are thinking about the fountainhead again. You looked amazing and your wedding seemed really fun.

You said you looked at Marina Del Rey..what was your impression there? I'm getting married there in 23 days..

The only thing on your list that they don't have is one wedding at a time..but the stagger tha start & end times and the rooms are on opposite ends of the hall.

They have a payment plan and you don't have to use Arcadia..I've heard they are REALLY Expensive. I'm using their house photog and dj and got great deals and they all work together very nicely.

Let me know if you have any questions about it.

Re: I can't decide on a venue

Marina del rey was really nice but FH and I went to prom together there so he wanted something different. My high school also held a lot of events there so the pictures all kind of look the same except the attire. But i'm sure you will have fun. That's were I experienced my first viennese and knew that I had to have it at my wedding.

if it helps, you can make monthly payments. from what i understood, what they planned out was just a guideline. Also, if you explained your situation im sure they would be more than willing to help you out and come up with a better plan. you may be able to take care of this over the phone...i did a lot of stuff over the phone with them bc i live in queens.

I also had a problem at first with using one of two florists. I was told i could use one of the two for my centerpieces and go outside for personal bouquets. I went to 6 other florists and got quotes from all (cneterpieces included) and it turned out aracadia wasn't so much of a stretch from the other vendors. They do work within your budget..and my flowers turned out better than i had expected.

Thanks a lot. I going to go back to them because FH loved them the best and they were the only place that gave out samples of their pastries before you decide to book! That was totally a seller for me.
