I am trying to figure out how the recessional works. After the ceremony is done - the B&G are first to leave right? Followed by the bridal party & the guests & etc.
So - do you 'hide' somewhere until the guests are outside and organized to throw the rice/petals/whatever? I have this image in my head of coming out the door of the church... mostly from movies I suspect. I just don't get what happens between time?
FWIW: we are getting married at the Historical Chapel if anyone has prior experience from there.

From the weddings I've been to and in - the bride and groom line up by the door and the bridal party joins them in a basic receiving line. As guests exit the church they extend their best wishes and the couple extends their gratitute. Then, when everyone is out the couple makes their 'exit'.

The way I have seen it is you stand in the hall area and do the recieving line. As people leave they say nice things to you and gather out side, where they get their stuff to throw. When everyone is outside you get your stuff and walk out the door and then the people throw what ever it is you want thrown!

I've seenit doen a few different ways.
one I was in, we followed th coupel outside, and stood in a lienline, and blue bubbles ( just the BP) and the guests came out and walk down the line and talked to us& teh couple & their parents.
another one- the went out a side exit & after we left came back in & did pics, then came out & we blew bubles at them- no receiving line, mingled outside for a while.
another, they stood at the back of the churchfor a mini reciveing line & then wehnthe guests left, they went back in side for pics hten came out later, for us to thorw birdseed, but they tooktoo long, so we alredy left b/c it was far to the hall & we didn't know the area.
Another one, I think they wnet sraightinto teh limos- it was cold.
I didn't ask my priest, but our church has a little vestibule & onteh left is teh church & teh right is a rec.hall. The actual church is the hall, so we will probabaly go in there, go back in the church for pics, then come out while everyone's is in front of the church, but there isn't much room there.
