I love watching the thanksgiving recipes! Which makes no sense, since we spend thanksgiving with my future in-laws (and by 'we' I mean my parents and grandma too!) so I don't cook anyway, outside of making my famous apple crisp and general helping.

I always cook Easter in my tiny kitchen- I have only done Thanksgiving once. But I usually help my mom since my sister is allergic to the kitchen, and spends the day in her PJS watching TV

I don't have any holiday that I do on my own. Once FH and I have our own place hopefully we can do at least one of them. Maybe one of the nights of Passover seder. We could probably do T-giving every now and then, too.

We have a hard time, since my FMIL has no concept of gluten free, so I typically don't go there for holidays since my sister can't eat. So my mom hosts or I do- she can trust our kitchens to stay gluten free with no cross contamination

Yeah- it sucks. I watch what I eat as Type 1 diabetic, and my sister with the Celiac disease. She just seems to ignore everything, so holiday dinners over there really suck

I have to go there sometimes...but I'm just a selfish bi atch who doesn't want her blood sugar to be 400! I apparently ask for too much- like steamed carrots without the honey sauce thingy on it. Sigh. I just make my own food and bring it. I don't care if she is offended- I can't wat anything she makes. It's super upsetting

Wow, I'm really sorry that you have to deal with that. It sounds like your actions are the best ones - just let her do her thing and don't engage her. In the end, she'll come off looking petty and immature and you will have handled yourself with grace
