When one vendor puts down another to get you to sign with them!!!!!!!
I encountered this when I went Catering Hall shopping and now again for everything else. I hate being bribed into a contract (or someone trying to do so).
That is such a red flag to go elsewhere.
Anyone else hate this?

I have to say, never really had that problem. One vendor talked about another but it wasn't someone we were even thinking of using...
Then again, the only vendor we actually checked out more than one of was the photographer/videographer :)

When they ask me who else I went to or who I decided to go with, I don't tell them names. I'm very vague. I sometimes tell them what I like better about the other place, but never names. I did that once and I found out that that's when the vendor bashing begins.

That's interesting. I had two photographers actually compliment the other photographers that I had seen. I thought that was very professional of them.

That happened to me with videographers....we chose one over another and the one we didn't choose called and was arguing with me about why i hadn't chosen his company! in doing so, he was insulting the one we had chosen......huge turn off

OMG! I met with a DJ who was a complete jerk. He cursed the whole time he was meeting with us, asked us who we met with already, and then proceeded to tell me things he didn't like about them, while saying...'I'm not saying anything bad'. Yeah Right!

I had the same problem with photographers. There was one that his work was outstanding, but then he asked who esle we had went to and when we told him he said 'Well, you know they are not really in my league' We were out of there fast. There was no room in the office for us and his ego.

Yikes! That only happened to me once- I had already booked 12th Night, and teh wedding center associated with my hall harassed me about it.
Who was doing the bad-mouthing, btw?

I went to Bay Ridge Manor in Brooklyn and he asked where we went prior and my MOH told him one....Ranked #1 in Brooklyn by the way and he was like 'NOPE! Don't do it...NEXT!!!!!' I marched right out of there. He knew they were much better and bigger and nicer than his place so he was intimidated.
