Re: I cant stand Corp America

I would love to go back to school to get my Masters in education, social work, or Library Sciences (can you tell that I am more interested in human services than corp. Am.?) but feel trapped because we need all the $$$ we can earn right now for the wedding.

Any advice on how I can swing working full time and satisfy my needs to go back to school without burning myself out?

nicolle -

i can so relate!!! i waited until after the wedding to quit my FT job and go back to school FT.

one thing i would suggest - go to whatever school you are thinking about attending, and talk to them about your undergrad requirements. i am short 20 undergrad credits in math (i want to teach HS math, but my previous degrees are all business-related). it will take me one FT semester to make up these credits before i can even begin my Masters in Education work. luckily, i am able to go to Suffolk Community college to make up these credits. classes are $109 a credit, or a flat rate of $1,300 if you go more than 12 credits. if you can swing it, maybe you can take 1 or 2 of your undergrad classes at night while you are still working.

best of luck!!!!

i have been researching this for months, so let me know if you have any questions!!

I want to go back to school after we are married. But I HATE school I am not a good student. So the whole thing scares me!

But if I want to get out of here and onto something new I think this is what I have to do.

I am in the process of getting my masters in Education/Special Ed right now. I am working while doing it so it took me 3 years. If you are thinking about it seriously DEFINATELY get you undergrad credits done at a community college (I went to Nassau to take 3 more classes). You need to have 2 english, math, foreign language and social studies (I think those are it) I needed 2 foreign lang and a social studies. It was soooooooo mcuh cheaper.

Before I went back I thought about it, and thought about it, and thought about it. I was sooooo scared (still am to start looking for a job and teaching) but I finally did it. I was never an A student in school so I was very nervous. For some reason Grad school isn't bad at all. Yes, it's LOTS of work but so far I have all As and 1 A-. I only have 2 classes to go So don't worry at all about it being too tough

If you want to do it DO IT or you may regret it forever
