I cheated and read newlywed Chat (everyone should)...
I just went in there today - I wish I would of known about this site when I got engaged 10 months ago. I read all these newlyweds writing about how they wish they would of spent more time enjoying engagement - more time with Fi's and not going crazy about all the little details. I am caught up in all of this - I have been to (I think 10 photographers) I spend so much time obsessing over minor details that they say know one notices - and I know this is true b/c when I go to a wedding I don't remember every song the band plays - or how many roses are in the centerpiece or if the brides lipstick matches her flowers Nail polish etc... you get the idea (and this is what they were writing about (and all the money that you get caught up spending) it is so easy to do. All I know is I read it and it didn't change anything b/c at this point I am so wrapped up in (it's once in a life time) I hope I am not one of those brides that says it was a waste spending that kind of money for one day.... I know one thing is for sure - I am really going to miss this planning...

I've looked too!
I ageree, I will miss the planning as well I want to be a wedding planner because it is so much fun setting everything up. I am sure the money thing will annoy me after it's done but hay it is a day I have been thinking about since I was a little girl. Maybe other people won't notice the little things but you will, just don't drive yourself crazy about things just relax and let everything fall into place. Good luck

Wish it weren`t taboo!
I wish it weren`t a big deal if we crossed boards and went over there if we needed advice on a particular topic. The only problem I ever have here is when bickering starts, but when everyone is genuinely helpful, that`s the best and I wish there weren`t restrictions on where people are allowed to be. Helpfulness is so rare to find these days, and it`s a pain to do a double post if you want a vendor`s response, but forget about going to the married ladies on their board!! We`re just not welcomed, so we have to wait for them to come here!! :( The money it costs for a wedding on Long Island has always made me disgusted. Something so special shouldn`t set you so far back, especially when you`re just starting off. So, after settling into our house, we`ve finally ended up on the road to marriage (not that that was ever in doubt) and for as much as I didn`t want to end up dropping a ton of change on this one day, it`s just unavoidable. But, the one control I have, besides trying to be somewhat sensible on our choices, is to make everything as easy as possible. Compared to the house purchase, this wedding planning is a breeze!! (So far!) :)

Wish it weren`t taboo!
If its any consolation, weddings aren't the only costly items on LI. The cost of homes and propety taxes is just as crazy!
