I DIY'd - now tell me your opinion!
3/3 Update: Revised the back of the invitation as per some feedback I got. I think it looks a lot more polished now. Some ppl were confused that the back reception and rsvp card come out but the new design is way more obvious! Enjoy! [New pictures in the same invitation album link below!]
Hey Guys: I was inspired by everyone's DIY and decided to do some myself! Please read my summary of what I did below and check out my pictures in the album links. Any advice/comments/suggestions on them would be appreciated!!
INVITATIONS:
I made up a ROUGH sample of DIY invites. First off, my theme is an old world astronomy/ 'age of discovery' idea updated with bright colors (bright blue and royal purple and gold).
I made the front from card stock but with a strip of a celestial map in blue/purple on vellum tied off with a ribbon and a gold foil. On the back, (Note: Cuts are very rough, this is only mock-up), I used a graphic of a mariner's astrolabe edited to be in my colors, with the reception card and rsvp card sitting in a hidden pocket, with only theme inspired phrases tabs showing until removed.

TRI-FOLDS:
The other DIY I have been working on is for the table. I wanted to eliminate too many things on the table, esp. pieces of paper from the table name sheet, the menu card, etc. So what I did is I combined them into a tri-fold, or triangle shaped standing thing (haha i can't think of what to call it). Every side has the table name at the top; one side has a picture and description of the constellation table name, one has the menu, and the other has an interesting theme-related quote from a great person like an astronomer or explorer with a mini-bio. I know a lot of people won't bother to read it or whatever, but I know it might be read b/c there is a lot of boring downtime at wedding and they might look it all over at that point.

Edited to say: The flower on top of the tri-fold is just a sample, I am going to have one stem of my flowers laying on it.
