I DO NOT UNDERSTAND PEOPLE!

I had my Aunt/Godmothers Sister invite her son to the wedding. Instead of 2 they became 3. She did not ask, she just said 'he is coming' on the RSVP. So I message her and explain to her our situation with the hall and how they can kick us out of the room if we go over our numbers (all true!). I said I would love to include ALL the boys. I asked if I could have until closer to the wedding to extend a formal invite to her son. she said I understand but I guess she did not because all of a sudden I am getting a million phone calls as to how I can say no, blah blah. DRAMA!!

I NEVER SAID NO, I asked for an extension. SO, 12 days later I wrote her back and said at this point I would LOVE to extend an invitation to him. NOW, a week later she responds with thanks for extending the invite but plans have changed and we will not be able to attend the wedding. SERIOUSLY?????

GROW UP people!!!!!

I dont understand people either! One of my sisters 'tells me' that she plans to bring along her partner from work and my other sister 'tells me' that she plans on bringing her babysitter! Are they out of their minds! For some reason people dont understand that each plate is more money and that we have a cap on how many people we can seat!

That being said you did nothing wrong! Kudos to u for being firm!

LMAO! I swear! People hear wedding and they want to come and bring anyone they want! It's not just another party, its OUR wedding day! We want the closest and most important people there for us!

I just wrote her back and said Thank you. Then I realized that was kind of mean (was in the moment) so I sent another note saying 'I'm sorry you will not be able to make it but the invitation remains for ___'

The son is 27 - he is not young but i haven't spoken to him or hung out with him in about 12 years. Whatever. Let's see what happens now. I'm sure her brother and sister in law will call in to cancel their RSVP as well!

Wow! It just amazes me how people can be consumed to their own little world, and can’t understand the circumstances.
I’m sorry you have to deal that too, but don’t beat yourself up about it. You did nothing wrong.

I say DO IT!! I did that and still received phone calls from a few people asking if they could bring their kids. I'm sure it would have been a lot more if I didn't include it!

Yeah, it just seems like it's the best way to go. We're only have 3 kids at the wedding: 2 FGs and 1 RB and all 3 are very close to us. That's IT!
