FH just started a new position in Manhattan and cannot take off, so how are we supposed to get a marriage license?? Are they really only open during the week until 5??? What about people who work?? Does anyone know if there is any way around this??

Re: i don't know what to do!
I am going there tomorrow so I can ask. Otherwise I would suggest calling them
My FH took off tomorrow -- he works in city too.
Maybe you can take off & go to NYC town hall while he is on lunch.

That's what I am thinking...looks like the only possibility. Thanks so much!

I live and work in NYC but got married in NJ. I don't think you need to take an entire day off. We made an appointment for 9am and were done by 9:15. We got a 9:35 bus into NYC and were both at work by 10:30.
We both told our bosses we had a 'doctor's appointment' in the morning and would be late getting in. I know, I know... not very honest but I didn't know what else to do!

well have him talk to his boss, for something so important they might be understanding. Let him tell his boss that he NEEDS to get the marriage license or else this wedding you both have paid for won't happen. If he says this i think they might find a way to make it work. He does NOT need to take off the whole day. Why dont you tell him to ask if he can come in an hour late. I think they'll also be more understanding if he says he just needs to come into work about an hour or so later than he normally does rather than him saying he would need the whole day off to do this.

I just looked this up an hour ago, I was thinking the same thing, it's ridiculous!
