Now that our baby is finally home, we are realizing how much work it really is. She gets up every two or three hours and when I'm not getting up to give her the bottle, I'm using the pump to make more bottles.(Because she was in NICU and I hadn't been with her 24/7, my milk supply diminished and now I have to pump constantly to get it back.) Me and DH are both exhausted. We take turns giving her a bottle so the other one can get some rest. Although we are extremely tired, we are also still amazed that this little precious baby is ours. She's such a great little baby. I haven't been on here much. We're still trying to adjust to some sort of a schedule and still be able to have time to do our grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, etc. Even having our parents come by for dinner seems so overwhelming because its more cleaning and more work for us. But its all so very worth it. We love our little girl more than anything!!!!!

Re: I don't know where I'm getting my energy.
Hopefully you and Alyssa (that is her name I hope) will settle into a routine and it will be a little less crazy for you.
Enjoy while she is still little, wait until she is crawling and running around....

Re: I don't know where I'm getting my energy.
Sue it is SO hard in the beginning. Sophie was a NICU baby as well and she had all these setbacks in the beginning that just had us so worried all the time. Try not to do too much - just do what needs to be done.
I understand the frustration w. the pumping and the supply. Sophie had the SAME problems as Alyssa. We couldn't start nursing until maybe day three, and she just kept falling asleep. We kept at it though and at 3 months she is off all supplements and gaining plenty of weight. The doctor may have you supplement with formula and that IS FINE!!!! You might feel better if you do that just to take the pressure off, and you can continue feeding and pumping without the concern of whether she is getting enough.
As long as you are giving her whatever you are making , you are doing the best you can. I am sure you know to take the fenugreek, the oatmeal, lots of water and a good diet. It will work I promise you. Let me know if you need any more info.
The new schedule will become 'your' schedule and it will become 'normal'. Really - the first few weeks - hell the first few months really- I am only just starting to feel like I know waht the heck I am doing!
