i don't know why i did that

so FH of course picked the worst day out of the month of April to get married. i am on the birth control patch and he picked the patch free week. so i decided this month to play around with changing the day. well i am going to hurt him when i get home tonight. i am in so miserable right now.

does anyone from any experience with the patch & changing the patch change day??

im not familiar with how the patch works...
but is it similar to the pill?

with the pill you take it every day for 21 (or 28 in my case) days...but even when you are on the sugar pills (the last 7 days) you are still protected. as long as you're on it consistenly every month.

at least thats the info i got.

any one??

i also have never used the patch, but i know that on the pill i have 'skipped' my period (for events/vacations) by starting the new pack of pills right away...and never taking the sugar pills.

i guess the best bet would be to call your gyn, but i'd think maybe you can do the same with the patch. then your period will move to a week earlier the next month.

thats what i am thinking of doing next time. just go 6 consecutive weeks with it on then 1 patch free week. i need to check the calendar to make sure that will work.

thanks

The week of your wedding just put a new patch on a week early... and skip your period, it's no different then the pill.

When I would miss pills I would be doubled over in cramps. I know exactly how you feel! Sometimes BC is so tricky!

I personally use Nuvaring (it's sound gross but it's acutally not) I hated taking the pill and the patch made a rash on me. It's still the same deal if I mess with it.

just make sure you don't have your period the week before the wedding either...if you're anything like me, you'll be a stressed out-PMS-prewedding-monster!!!!!!

i will just do 6 weeks of the patch at the time of the wedding. i wanted to switch to mirena but with not having any health insurance i'm afraid it may be too expensive

I believe I will probably have my friend for my wedding and HM so I plan on skipping it for that month

You can't get Mirena unless you have had a baby & it is expensive. I have great insurance however it is through a catholic hospital and it does not cover birth control of any type, unless it is being taken for some reason other then preventing pregnancy. Even IUDs that are for those who haven't had a baby are tricky to insert (and has bad side effects, Mirena is hormone laced and doesn't have many side effects). Not every OBGYN will do it, I had really wanted one myself but they couldn't insert it and I didn't want to go through the discomfort/ pain of trying again. After I have a baby im def getting Mirena!

Doing 6 weeks of the patch should be perfect!
