I had a make up trial with a good friend of mine's sister in law. She's a sweetheart and pretty reasonably priced, but, I wasn't that thrilled with the results. I'm going for a trial with a LIW vendor next month, and I just have this feeling I'm going to be much more satisfied this time.
I didn't commit to my friend's sis in law, so I shouldn't be worrying about it, but, she just emailed me that she is looking forward to it, etc... Now I feel bad. I know it's my wedding day and I have to go with the best one, but I just dont want to hurt her feelings. Any ideas on how to break it to her if I decide to go with someone else?
Thanks

What didn't you like about it? Is there anything she can change to make it better? If not, I think it's best and easiest to be honest. Maybe you can say that you really enjoyed your trial and appreciate her taking the time to work with you. Let her know that you are still shopping around and you will be in touch with her. It's your day!!!!! Go with who makes you happiest.

Thanks. I felt the colors she picked weren't flattering for me, and I felt that my eyes didn't pop. She does it on the side, and I felt that she had a hard time picking colors, finding stuff, etc... I'm going to see how the trial goes with the other girl.

Ask her if she'd be willing to do makeup for the bridal party and explain that you have someone else in mind for yourself.

Just be honest. She shouldn't jump the gun and expect you to book her. Its your day and you should be happy, especially when it comes to your make up! If its something you feel she can work on after you discuss what you didn't like then by all means, give her another shot. But if your happy with the person on your next trial then don't feel bad at all about booking. Like the bride above said, shoot her an email and let her know you greatly appreciated her time but your still shopping around and will keep her posted. Don't stress about it.

I like this idea!! But only if you trust her to do your bridal party..

you can tell a little white lie and say that someone surprised you with a gift and that they booked your makeup. A friend of mine did this when she was not loving her hair trials with her stylist

That's not a bad idea Thanks. I actually spoke to my friend last night (whose sister in law is the girl) and she made me feel better. She wants me to be happy and didn't think it was a big deal.

I feel like any reasonable person would totally understand. But, I really like the idea of offering her services to the Bridesmaids....
Honesty is the best policy. She should understand....it's a big day! You need to feel confident and comfortable....and beautiful!!
