Why am I up so late you may ask??

Well me and dh just walked through the door and my sister calls..my mom is screaming in the background and my sister is yelling at me that the tree fell over!

They spent all day decorating it and it was finally done ( my mom is so anal about her tree and her decorating) and it just fell over..star fell off, ornaments broke, it wouldnt stand in the stand..pine needles everywhere..A MESS!

So of course I run over there and shes freaking out, my sister is treating me like crap for what reason I have no idea, and my brother is on the floor trying to fix it..

So I stay there for almost 3 hours helping and finally we get it up again but had to take all the ornaments off of it, put rocks in the bottom of the stand so it wouldnt fall over again, put bricks on the outside of the stand itself...and it doesnt look right at all..

This sent my mother like 1000 miles back in the grieving process especially at the holidays..she screamed and cried claiming someone was trying to tell her that she shouldnt be celebrating at all since she lost her fiance.

I didnt mean to bring anyone down and I know there are people out there so much less fortunate than we are but please be thankful for what you have this year and every other..a lot of people are going through hard times and at christmas everything seems multiplied 49885390840 times over.

I kinda feel like its my fault too cause my mom kept saying she didnt want to do christmas this year and not that I pushed it but maybe I should just have given in?Its not that I didnt wanna not remember Kenny or anything..I just thought that it would have been worse for her with no christmas at all..

I cant wait till its all over!

JUst needed to vent! Thanks!

The first holdiays after a loved one passes is very difficult. It sounds like your mom was trying really hard to cope with it, but with the tree falling over, it just makes it that much worse, it was her breaking point. I have lost both my parents, and that was a while back now, the holidays are still difficult, and I know it is hard to believe now, but it will get easier. You will always think of him more this time of year, but it will ease with time. I think your mom, and for that matter all of you need more time for the pain to ease. Feel free to vent anytime

i'm sorry for your mom. it must be so hard. i have no idea what that's like. and i'm sure this won't make her feel any better, but everyone i know has had their tree fall over at least one year so it's not just her

I'm really sorry
For what it's worth my dad always gets very angry over something over the holidays and we always have some sort of drama every year.

I'm sorry about your mom's fiance. I agree though, not having Christmas would have made it harder to grieve I think.

Oh I'm sorry - people deal with death and the holidays differently - I origianlly did't want to do Christmas, but I got a small fake tree and put out some ornaments and decorations and its kind of comforting.

Don't balme yourself - she's probably just overwhelmed by the memories and the holidays
