I was planning to get married at my RH but now- I think my hall is over charging me just for them to set up chairs and nothing else. So I'm now wondering if it would be better to get married at the church. But I never made my communion nor comformation. I was baptized and thats it =/ I know I'm bad. So with all that said. Don't I have to make all of that in order to get married ina church??

Re: I don't remember
There are many people who were only baptized in the Church so don't feel bad....
But yes, in order to get married in the Church, you have to receive your communion and confirmation.
It is do-able! You are getting married in October, so I'd call the Church right away and see what you need to do in order to get those two sacraments and if it's possible before your wedding.
A friend of mine's husband was only baptized and she wanted to get married in the Church; so he went and received the last two sacraments so they could.
You can do it! Just call your Church and find out how!

I would check and see how much your church would charge you. It might not be that much cheaper.

That is a good point; because the Church does charge you to have the ceremony/full mass....it's definitely not FREE......I think they call it a 'donation'.

Wow... It might be cheaper then just to get decor for my ceremony and the officant. Hmm If I have to pay to make my communion and conformation then have to 'donate' to the church it might not be worth it

im in conformation classes right now....i have been baptized and made communion...
now my teacher told me..once uhave been baptized in a church u earn the right to be married in one..and once u have first communion u earn the right to have a mass at ur wedding..and shesaid its not true u need to be confirmed to get married in a church the priests just prefer it....
this is just what she told me..i always though u had to be..thats why i started the classes..ur best bet is to call a church and ask

Re: I don't remember
I was baptised and made my communion but never my confirmation. My priest told us that we can get married in the church as long as one of us made all our sacraments (FH). However, because I wasn't confirmed, we were told we can't have a full mass - just the ceremony.

It may be different for non-catholic churches i.e. episcopalian, lutheran, or presbyterian.... which are pretty much all the same... but in a catholic church you def need to be baptized and confirmed.

It depends on what church it is, I think. Some may be more strict than others.

I just don't want to have to pay for communion and comformation and then for a ceremony and what not.. It'll probally be extremely expensive that way. But I sorta want to get married ina church now for some reaso n..lol

Re: I don't remember
You can get married in a non catholic christian church. I know the United Churches of Christ marry without any stipulations. I got married at a UCC church in Mt Sinai FM for details if you want.

I am getting married in a Catholic church and only I received my sacraments. My Fiance has never. As long as one of you have, you are good to go in most churches!

I'm not catholic (fh is) but our catholic church needed at least my baptism cert. so if your fh has all the documents, you will be ok.

i'm not a 100% sure but i think you need to have your communion and confirmation before you can get married at a church. i would call them and double check.

Re: I don't remember
I only got baptized and my communion. I never got confirmed and my parish is totally fine with it. It depends on what parish you go to. You should check around to see what they tell you.
