i just don't see how we can afford one. I know this is so not a big deal.... but I feel so upset about this, like i'm going to be sick.... i feel very shallow, but I can't help it....

It is easier said than done, but don't be upset..the most exciting part is that you are getting married. A Honeymoon is material stuff...there is no need to go broke over a vacation..Keep smiling.

If that is the case, then why not consider a long weekend at a local place - maybe even Manhattan or New England in a B and B or Atlantic City at the Borgata. This way you have some alone time after the wedding is over.

After the wedding maybe you can have a romantic getaway for couple of days.

I agree, my sister couldn't afford a large HM after her wedding so they went to Martha's Vineyard for a long weekend and loved it! All that really mattered to them was that they were married finally. That was relaxing enough.

Why don't you just go away somewhere for a day or two now, so you at least feel special. Then do a big HM in a year or two.

I was going to suggest the same. Weekend getaways are as nice as any HM. Save your $$, and go on a nice trip on your 1st or 5th anniv.
And you're not being shallow - just normal!

Cruises are also very inexpensive.
We are going for 11 nights for less than $2,000 total for both of us!!
If not, there is always, bed and breakfasts, night i the city, ect.

Do you belong to BJ's or Costco? They have really inexpensive vacation packages. I bet you could book a 7 day cruise for $1000 total through them!
There is always the Poconos for a weekend, or a bed & breakfast someplace upstate for a weekend, or even Atlantic City or Mohegan Sun. Don't just resign yourself to nothing without looking around for deals!!

Maybe you can find a way to work something into your budget. Your honeymoon doesn't have to be a 10K trip to hawaii ( I know we can't afford that right now) but maybe something a little more low key. You can find really great cruise rates for 3-4 day cruises. I hope everything works out for you!

AWE..DONT BE UPSET.
the girls have made wonderful suggestions about possible places to go afterwards, like a 'mini' honeymoon. No less love or romance...'mini' in terms of the length and price.
I'm sure you can find something like that within your budget. Good luck...and don't be so down.

you know... me and my Fi went to Rhode Island and saw the mansions.. very romantic... and then on the way home went to Mystic... it's cheap and you can take the ferry!!!! we had a great time!!!

Aww sweetie, dont be sad. You both have the rest of your lives to go away on vacation. Wouldnt you rather wait & save up to go on a really nice vacation in a year or two from now? i would rather do that than struggle to go on a HM right after you get married and then be restricted on where to go because of financial restraints.-its not worth it. Like the other girls said..cruises are fairly cheap - you dont have to pay for food! There are ones that go right out of NY (which saves you airfare). Or you can do a nice weekend getaway.
