I don't understand why...
people think that it's okay to have very personal conversations at work if they're not in a private office.
I work in a writing center, so we're basically just one room with tables and computers. We're pretty empty right now because school is on break, so it's just 3 of us tutors hanging out.
One of the other tutors has been sitting here on her cell phone having a VERY personal conversation with a friend about that friend's relationships or something for at least the last half hour. I have learned more about this friend I've never met than I ever wanted to know about a stranger's personal life!
And it's totally quiet in here, so there's no way she could think that she has any privacy, since it's a small room and the only sound in the room is her conversation.
Honestly. If I have to make any kind of personal phone call, even just a 5 minute call home or something, I step out into the hall. With school on break, there is nobody out there, she'd have more privacy there, and there are tables and couches maybe 20 feet from our door that she could have more privacy at. This is just ridiculous.
