I don't want to cause a debate on this...

I just need to vent b/c me and another colleague were ready to scream!!!! I was watching Celia Cruz's funeral mass in the office kitchen with a few other people. I am not sure who the male was that said some words and at the end he says: 'We left Cuba but Cuba never left us. Please help free Cuba'. Can you believe people started laughing in the kitchen!! I am appalled by these people. People have NO idea what has been going on in Cuba all these years. The stories I have heard from my family, family friends and just reading about Cuba and Fidel makes me sick to think people were laughing at this. There are people suffering right now trying to get out of Cuba.
And I am so disgusted with one female here in particular who is Columbian and she should know better!! The things that are occurring in Columbia is so bad and Cuba is right up there. I am so angry!!

I'm not going to comment on this because I can't (I have no knowledge, nor have I any involvement to be able comment), but I am up the block from St. Pats and I can tell you it's mayhem here. The screaming and chanting is unbelieveable for her.

I agree with you Wanda. I have a friend that goes to Cuba each year and the stories she tells me are horrible.

The bottom line is there are a lot of ignorant people out there that think if it's not happening to them, then it's none of their concern....which is horrible.

But the only thing you can do about ignorant people is ignore them or ask them what is so funny?
Bet they wouldn't know what to say to that.....

I am sorry you have to be around ignorant people. Sometimes people use laughter or joking to deal w/situations they don't know much about, or aren't sure how to handle. Not saying it's right...just it's human nature. I agree w/you for being upset. I would be too. Hang in there!

I wouldn't be upset...some people DON'T know what is going on in other countries...so they make jokes...but don't really mean any harm.
