Ok, so the woman who I believe got pregnant on purpose just so she could be due on our wedding day will be having a baby shower about 5-6 weeks before the wedding. My birthday/bacelorette party will probably be within the same week or 2.
This is FH's best friend's wife and she didn't show up at our engagement party.
I am sure wedding stuff, will be driving me crazy at that time and I don't want to go to her party anyway. Will I be wrong if I just use the 'oh I'm too busy with wedding planning' excuse? Will I be required to send her a gift if I don't show?

I think that is a lame excuse and you should not use it. Is this the same person that didn't come to your e-party? Why worry about it now CubanBride? See how you feel the week or so before.
How can you think someone got pregnant just to be due on your wedding day? Those things are hard to plan.
If you dont want to go, then dont. No one should force you to do anything you dont want to, but IMO it would be tacky not to send a gift.

Re: I don't want to go to her shower!
1. I am absolutely not going to the shower. That is a given. I am willing to send a gift, maybe.
2. I don't like being a phony and do not want to pretend as if I am happy for someone when I am not. I do not like this woman at all for many valid reasons.
3. I believe she planned the pregnancy because of all the little comments she has made about it. I won't get into it here, but it is totally and completely suspicious. And its not hard to plan a pregnancy around a desired delivery date.
4. I am concerned about this now because they are planning things now. Fh already asked me if I am going to go to the shower. I told him I will be too busy with all the things going on at the time.
I guess I am just ranting because it doesn't really matter what excuse I use. I just don't want to be around her. And unfortunately they live right across the street.

I agree, I wouldnt bother going. But I would send a gift to be polite. Im sure if there's unsaid tension between the two of you, she wouldnt want you there anyway and is probably inviting you to please her husband. Do the both of you a favor and say no thank you, no excuse is necessary.

Why would she do that? What benefit would there be to having her baby on your wedding day? I just dont get it.

It is dumb, but it gets her husband out of the ceremony. If she actually does go into labor or doesn't feel well, he won't be able to fulfill his duties as a groomsman. That's my only guess.

I don't think your FH best friend would want to miss his best friend's wedding.

Wow......she seems like a piece of work. Send a gift, don't go and do not worry about it any more! Focus on your happiness, not someone else's pettiness.

I think you should go for your FH's sake. This is HIS Best Friend's wife ??? Imagine how awful it must be for him and his friend that their wives don't get along. - I'm sure your reasons for not liking her are 100% valid. - And i'm not saying the two of you will be friends, But in this case, I'd suck it up, be the 'better person' and do it for your FH.
