I don't want two flower girls, what do I do??

OK ladies, I need help on this one. I have been a nanny for 8 1/2 years and the little girl is going to be 5 by the time I get married and her brother 9. I want the little girl to be my flower girl, I babysit them for voer 40 hours a week, and had in the past raised her brother, who is going to 9 by the wedding and our ring bearer. My fiance wants his neice in the wedding, she will be 3 by then. Here is part of my issue. His brother and his wife and the baby do not speak to my fiances parents. Anotherwords, the brother chose not to allow the baby to see her grandparents and chose not to speak to them anymore. When it comes time to the wedding, how I am supposed to have her walk down the isle, work with the family and what is it that I make her repsonsible for?

Thanks,
~I

I think if Fh wants her to be a part of it, you should allow it.....there is nothing wrong with two flower girls...its kinda cute....dont let the family 'issue' they have become YOUR issue.....they will just have to work it out....

If its something you FI wants then make sure you try and accomodate for it... Is his brother going to be in the wedding?? worst case scenario she walks down with him... but like the pp said-- dont let their issue become yours... its not worth the aggravation

I think if your FH wants her in teh wedding, then maybe you should just allow her to be in it. She is just a little kid. I understand that you dont want there to be any issues with the family- but there may be more tension if you don't have her in it at your FHs request. Def really think about it before you decide. Goodluck!!!

There's nothing wrong with two flower girls--they're the cutest thing in the wedding, I personally think the more the better! Did you see the pictures of Marcia Cross's wedding where she had six or eight little girls as her bridesmaids? It was adorable!

And I think that if your FH wants to have his niece in there, he should be able to--it's nothing to do with you whether your FBiL talks to his parents or not. Maybe her being part of the wedding will bring the family back together! Wouldn't that be nice?

Anyway, have one carry a basket with flowers, and one carry a pomander or a wreath, or have both with baskets, or you could have the older one carry one of those 'Here Comes the Bride' banners.

I agree with the ladies above, you definetely should allow it if FH wants it, in my opinion it would be weird to choose a non-family member over a family member, and also, the 3 year old has nothing to do with the family feud, so therefore, should not be shunned from being a flower girl, it isn't fair to her.

i had three! My two older girls went down before me & tossed petals...... my little neice & nephew who were only two walked down together before the bridal party & she had a mini-pomander(flower ball attached to ribbon) it was adorable. As for people getting along - i had many family issues and everyone held their tongue and were civil out of respects for my day. I can't say that they DEFINETLY will do that, but most likely they will. And if their are problems, let it be their drama & not yours!

If you FH wants his niece as a FG, then she should be a FG. There is no reason you can't have two.
