I feel bad

The slugs are destroying my hostas, so I put slug pellets down on Saturday. Well, Sunday morning, there were tons of deal slugs and snails everywhere! I killed them!

Now I kind of feel bad!!

Plus, I have to dispose of their carcasses

SLUG KILLER! Jk - I remember killing them when I was little with salt (which now I think was kind of mean) and that was just because they were icky - at least you had a good excuse (plants are alive too!)

Yeah, I guess it is a little more humane than throwing the snails agains the church wall next door to our house so that they crack open and the birds eat them! Meanie DH!!!

when i was about a young teen, one summer we had slugs (rather rare thing for us...) anyway, someone told me to put salt on them...ok. so i did. well, i was drinking a can of coke and spilled some, magically on the slug i'd just doused in salt....it sprang back to life!!!! so we spent the summer salting and 'coking' the slugs.

I just toss them over the fence, although I do sometimes get the chills imagining the army of slugs and snails that must be climbing back up on the other side!

Oooooh, If I didnt' want them dead so much I would do that all day long on the weekends!

I remember after a night of drinking in the bahamas, my friends and I were walking back from the pool area to our room and I was dancing around barefoot.... and stepped on one! UGH... I can still feel it like it was yesterday everytime I tell that story!

Speaking of snails, my shih tzu knows exactly where to find them stuck on the side of the house and eats them! Ill go outside to get her back in the house and you hear the crunching it makes me sick

A good way to get rid of slugs is to just leave a bowl of beer out....they are attracted to it, so they go for a swim and they die there. The reason I like this method is the cleanup is much nicer....just pick the bowl up and throw it out.


on a side note....Gunnar (my cat) used to eat slugs when we let him go outside....so he'd come back inside with slug juice all over his face.....delicious!!!
