We just adopted a puppy on Saturday...she is home all alone in her cage today . And she is sick with kennel cough so I feel especially bad she isn't feeling well and is locked up alllllll day while FH and I are working (even though he is coming home early today to get her out). I went through this with our other dog (who was 1.5 yrs when we got her) but this new puppy is just 11 weeks and so tiny.
awww poor thing. don'g beat yourself up about tho - gotta pay the bills somehow. she will be fine...

aww why do you have her in the cage though? when we go our dog he was only 8 weeks, we just put baby gates up so he'd have some room

Awwww she will be ok.... The beginning stages are def worst I remember crate training our puppy and how heart wrenching it was to leave! Then i would come home to ripped up newspapers all over my kitchen, or pee and poop to clean up and thought to meself... OK I'D Rather have it here in one spot then all over the house.
She will be ok, just give her lots of extra loving tonight

Aww I'm sure she's fine. She's going to be THRILLED when you guys get home! My dog is a year old and she actually LOVES her crate. She goes in there all the time when she doesn't have to be. I hate putting her in there, too, but she has a habit of chewing on wires. She hasn't done it in a long time, but I'm still always afraid she's going to.

I am going to buy a few gates to confine her to one room...but since she is sick she can't be near my other dog so she needs to be in quarantine basically lol.

I don''t think you should keep him crated all day. My dog from the first day we had him we got a baby gate and sectioned off a small part of the hallway with his crate and toys so he could go in and out as he pleased. A puppy can't hold his bladder for longer then a few hours so he's gonna end up going to the bathroom in the crate which defeats the whole purpose of crate training.

We crate trained my dog since she was 10 weeks old and she has never had an accident in her crate to this very day.
