I feel like everyone's letting me down lately...

I feel like everyone's letting me down lately...

I know my response to everyone when they post something like this is that it's our right of passage as brides to realize who our real friends are... but I just want to vent...

I feel like I'm planning my wedding alone (with the exception of my mom)...

I'm hearing that people I thought were definitely going to be at my shower aren't going to be (I know it's in August because it's when my FMIL is here, and my mom is upset that we have to have it when she's here because apparently a lot of people will be on vacation... my FH's mom isn't even contributing towards it, but she requested that we have it in August so she can be here for it.. my mom wanted to have it in September when more people would be around, so now my mom is upset that a lot of people can't come... and so am I).

members of my bridal party are vocally upset about how much money things are costing, when it's no more than every other bridal party on earth! My mom even had to cap their costs and pay for the rest. Even my FH's sisters are b!tching about $$ - one saying they didn't know it cost ANYTHING to be in a BP!... I feel like my Bachelorette Party is gonna stink because no one's gonna want to pay for me! We already had to nix the idea of an overnight out east, which is what I originally wanted to do.

And it's not fair because I am SO generous with everyone and anyone's kids for every event - and I really wish now that it's my turn that I could enjoy myself knowing that people WANT to do this for me.

My mom ended up having to pay for SO much on her own because she wants her daughter to have what she feels I deserve... thank God for her, but it hurts when it seems she's the only one that seems to think I DO deserve it (along with my dad and brothers).

And, to boot... I hate my job... I want to throw up getting ready for work each morning.

Wow... I'm sorry to vent like this... I wrote like I'm writing in a diary! Maybe I should invest in one of those.......

Hi sarah!

i know exactly how you feel - I went thru a lot of that to - when it came time for my bachelorette party, only 2 friends came....

My best friend told everyone she spoke to about my shower that I wanted lingerie. my stepsister told no one. When people found out later that I wanted lingerie, they told me they never knew - these were the ones that spoke to my stepsister.... She never was on baord with anything, and she was supposed to be my MOH - this is just one small example. Plus, I had my family tell me how many times how inconvenient my wedding will be on a Saturday at 12 noon...

I know this was your venting session, and I dont want to hijack, but just wanted to let you know I so completely understand!

Don't apologize for venting. Keeping it in will only make you feel ten times worse. Unfortunately wedding do bring out the worst in people and there is just no changing that. But it also reminds you of why you love the people who are putting their best foot forward (i.e., your mom, brothers/sisters, dad). Sometimes wedding can get so out of control that it takes away from the ture meaning of why you;re getting married in the first place.

Try thinking about things this way: If someone could have told you after you got engaged that your wedding planning would be a disaster, what would you do to ensure that you didn't have to go down that road? Maybe what you have to remember is that the main person you need to please during this whole process is YOU. If you cater to everyone else's needs you're never going to feel like anyone is really being there for you. As far as your friends go, I would say take a few days to yourself just to let things settle and to let your anger subside. Then speak to your girls/friends/family, etc. and tell them how you really feel in a calm manner. You will never feel disappointed in yourself if you speak the truth and let people know how you really feel.

I hope things get back on track for you sooner than later. Remember that even if the planning goes awry, you still have the man of your dreams to look forward to on your wedding day.

Sarah, I'm sorry that your having such a rough time. I've had my moments feeling that everyone is letting me down. Trying to get my girls together to go for their dresses was a huge pain in the ***, I wanted to do it early like in May or June. Fat chance. I had to go with my MOH July 1st and I went with my BM's just last Friday. I just received an e-mail saying that all the dresses should be in October 16th and my wedding is November 5th. Talking about cutting it close, not to mention the dresses still need to be altered. I told my MOH to start doing novenas for the dresses to come early. My dresses is from the same maker and I was to come in the second week of February, but I got it right before Christmas and I ordered it on November 6th. I pray that I have the same luck.

Then a while back, my MOH told me that she won't be coming to my bachlorette party because she can't leave her husband at home with 3 kids and that she can't drive at night. Mind you, a date for this was never even set.

My parents have been great helping me deal with all the planning especially since FH has been in Iraq for almost a year.

Sarah, vent all you want. Its not good to keep it in.
Feel better

thanks, girls! . I appreciate it. It stinks, too, because my poor MOH has to basically pull teeth to get the rest of my BP to DO anything. I wish I could help her organize them for the shower, but I'm not supposed to be involved in it. so it's kind of tough!

I'll just be so upset if people arent THERE for my shower! I always go to everything for everyone! I'm not supposed to know, but I overheard that all the girls that I work with and talk to everyday aren't coming. Whatever - they're just coworkers, but a couple of them I was pretty friendly with, and to think they're all not coming stinks.

I think all this stuff is just adding up and making me feel kind of crappy.

I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through. I have definetly had my share of let downs from a LOT of people. In fact one of my closest cousins who i've grown up with didn't even come to my engagement party, and didn't even tell me personally that she wasnt coming!! Unfortunately people will be who they are, and you can't change that....I always say 'i wish i had cures for how some people are!' anyways, my mom & my mom only has been there for me & been my best friend through this whole thing...and i must say, she's kept me from freaking out & has me enjoying every minute of it. At the end of it all i'm sure you will look back & realize that all your dreams came true on your big day. And i'm sure you will be too ecstatic on your wedding day to let any of these stresses come to mind! (as well as your mom) and just know that everything will work out the way it's supposed to!
