So FH and I do not live together and won't be moving in together until the wedding night. We applied for an apartment and got approved - we signed the lease last week! We had been shopping around for furniture and on Monday we went and ordered our mattress, and our living room set and bedroom set. We still need a few things, but the big items are bought!
The painter is coming this weekend and I just called my insurance company and got renter's insurance for us.
If this doesn't make you feel like a grownup, what will!?!?! I mean, I've always thought of myself as mature, but it's such a different feeling when you know that you'll be living on your own, with a boy ( you know what I mean) and that you will be making a home together. I love it! It's a bit overwhelming too, since we're also planning and paying for our own wedding, but it really is cool.

I couldn't agree more Yesenia! When Matt and I started buying all that stuff I felt the same way!!! And now to see the apartment almost done- it's just nuts!!

when FH and i got our own apartment last month i felt exactly the same way! we had already lived together, but at his parents' house, so we REALLY felt grown up knowing we would be totally on our own.
of course, the only downside is paying rent, lol...

Not to rain on your parade, but after a few months of paying rent, utilities and housing expenses, you realize being a kid wasn't so bad! LOL

It is very exciting! Although FH and I have lived out of our parents houses for a long time, we bought a house last March and sitting at the closing felt so funny and 'grown up'.
When we left we were both kinda of dazed and then FH said 'OMG, we OWN property ....well I guess we will in 30 years....'

It is such a great feeling!!! FH and I moved in together a year ago and it was so fun shopping for new furniture etc.!!!! Now I cant wait til my shower so I get some new stuff again!

yes me for me it feels like that . Me and fh we dont live together but it like a whole new world out there for me ,i who never lived by myself with a boy will be soon married, and living away from my parents for the first time. so it surreal but it good in way to be be mature and not dependent on parents.

I feel the same way... I know - we both pay rent now and support ourselves completely now, but it's still not the same as getting our own place, together, and having wayyyy more in rent and bills! I still have daily interaction with my mom - which won't be the case once I move so that makes me sad, but I guess it's the law of life, right?

Congrats!! it's such a good feeling to have your own place to call 'home' my FH found an apartment and he moved in June 1st and since then I've been moving my stuff into the apartment and I'll be living there after the wedding. I can't wait!! It's been so fun decorating and picking out stuff like drapes and furtiniture! Can't wait till the wedding when we live together -- it will be the best feeling But like you said it'll be hard to live home too and not see your parents as much -- we won't be that far but it's still a big adjustment for me. my mom jokes we'll be back to visit on the weekends to do laundry

Awww, that's so exciting! Funny you post this, I was just telling FH how I'm so jealous of you girls that don't live w/ FH yet, b/c after the wedding you have that excitement of living together and such! Enjoy- it's wonderful!!!

that is WONDERFUL yesenia!!!!! i totally know what you mean.. it does make you feel all 'grown up' ive been grown for a few years already but moving in after the wedding was definatly like WHOA i REALLY am a big girl its a truly amazing feeling!
