I feel like the only part of my wedding I'm enjoying is LIWEDDINGS!

I feel like the only part of my wedding I'm enjoying is LIWEDDINGS!

How bad is that? This is relaxing to me. Planning my OWN wedding has become stressful because of all the crap that's surrounding it and all the unnecessary stress. Especially after the drama from this past weekend, nothing seems fun. The closer I get, the less exciting the day feels to me, and the more I wish we just eloped! I really hope the actual DAY is beautiful and stress free - and that it makes all the crap surrounding it semi worth it. Right now, I just feel like I'm hyperventilating every time I do anything wedding related - or think of what's to do.

Ya know... my FSIL told me yesterday that this stress is what I get for wanting a big wedding. Like it's a punishment. It didn't really bother me until I thought about it a few hours later and today. Who says that to a bride? You're supposed to make a bride feel better. My side of the family doesn't take the 'I told you so' attitude. Then again, his FSIL never had a big wedding, so there may be jealousy in there. And they ALL let my FH off the hook of HELPING me by saying he's 'a guy'. I swear... his family better not start with this crap the last month because I will NOT be able to stand it.

Just had to get that out... thanks.

Hang in there, it really is hard planning and dealing with everyone's 'two cents'. It will all get done and it will be beautiful.

Don't listen to people's stupid comments. Try and stay positive and just keep on breathing.

Hang in there Sarah! I know it is hard when everyone puts their 'two cents' in. All I can say is try not to take what other people say to heart.

MINE got away with not helping until the very end when his dad gave him an ear full [or is it 'earful'???]

it shouldn't be this stressful...no matter what. it just shouldn't.

I agree. Ya know, I don't want to be insensite, but I wish my FH's dad was here to knock some sense into my FH every now and then. I think it would help. His mom talks to him a lot, but chalks a lot of stuff up to 'that's my son...' and 'you know how he is'. Although I never knew him, I think a dad would be able to drive some things home a little more sometimes.

You're not alone. I come here to relax as well. Today alone I met with two vendors, handled scheduling over the phone with a third, and continued the arduous task of getting my ceremony location set up.

I drank a yogurt smoothie at 9:00 AM and then ate yogurt at 4:30 because I was busy with stuff in between. Now I have a list a mile long of things to do each day this week, and I keep adding to it.

If I didn't need to decompress, I would feel guilty for being online.

Re: I feel like the only part of my wedding I'm enjoying is LIWEDDINGS!

I was driving in the car before and thought to myself that in about 3 weeks, I'm going to be able to say my wedding is in 2 weeks. And I almost passed out. I want to put a little laughy guy here, but I'm serious. Got light headed. That is SO scary, at this point! I want ALL DRAMA to go away and I want to focus on my fiance and me and concentrate on the reasons we want to marry each other. I'm almost ready to say 'eff' the Signaure Drinks. 'Eff' the personalized napkins. 'Eff' the gobos (okay maybe not). 'Eff' the reception packets. 'Eff' everything. Keep it simple, stupid and focus on each other. What gets done, gets done. The rest is whipped cream. (but I love the whipped cream!).

i feel your pain, sweetie!! my SIL says to me 'everything's so elaborate, so many things are bound to go wrong!' i swear, people just don't think. and yeah, everyone has let FH off the hook cuz he's a guy, but come on, he hasn't lifted a pinky... it's supposed to be 'our' day. as everyone keeps telling me, i will tell you - hang in there. the closer it gets, the more stressful it gets. the more you want to say 'eff it'. the less you feel like you can take. and even though i don't know from experience, you WILL have a gorgeous and stressfree day... i'm sure of it. and it will make all of this crap leading up to it, fade into the past. hang in there, we're all here for you

You may be onto something there. I say do what you can do in the time you have and try not to bite off more than you can chew. I am not doing personalized napkins or cry packs or some of the things like that because there isn't enough time in a day and I refuse to go crazy over things like that. But that's just me. I don't do well under pressure, I need to plan things out when I have time. As of now, I just need to package up the 'kids goodie bags' for the reception and organize pictures and songs for the wedding video.

Hang in there. We will make it through!!!!

Libby, LandsEnd and AlmostMrsKelly... I feel like we're both in the same boat! Thank you! And I'm sure we're even not alone right now. I appreciate your responses SO much! THANK YOU!!!

Let's all take a deep breath collectively and know that all the work we've put in already will be enough to have beautiful weddings, even if we stop right now. (well, maybe not... I still have a lot to do. I do have to remain realistic! lol). But, still...

And we do have each other!!!

Thank you everyone!!!

Hang in there and stay positive! You're gonna be so happy with the way everything turns out... it'll be all worth the occasional stress!

Try this:

look in the mirror, nod & smile, and scream'shut the f*** up' INSIDE YOUR HEAD.

practice this three times a day

Now, everytime somebody stupid says something dumb, nod & smile - and scream shut the f***up inside.

Sarah, I'm sorry you have to deal with some of these unsupportive ppl. And since I've had experience with the wedding day yesterday after dealing with some of what you had to go through, trust me it will be great in the end...

You will feel like a princess and the euphoria of feeling so beautiful and being treated so well will make your day absolutely worth it...

Trust me on this, I had my share of stressful moments and unsupportive family up to the day before the wedding. I didn't think I would be able to enjoy the wedding day 'cus the wedding process seemed like a chore. But on that day, nothing else mattered but me and DH. We had an absolutely amazing day, I'm usually shy and nervous about being in the spotlight but on that day found I LOVE it!

The vendors all cater to you and all your family and guests will be so wowed by your beauty and your special moment that they will defer to you. :D

FM me if you need to talk further.

It's so true. That stuff doesn't matter. The less you think about it all or work on it....the less stressed you'll be. Want to know why??? Because people will see you are focusing on something other than the wedding [b/c they already probably think you care more about martinis and matching napkins than the MARRIAGE part of the wedding based on seeing you in 'DIY' mode!] and realize you have come to the realization it's about the 2 of you becoming a family...not about personalized napkins. I've been to about 8 weddings in 2 years....there wasn't a single personalized napkin at any of them...and they weren't missed. No one had personalized matches, specialty drinks, contests or throw aways from the DJ....yet each was still magical and fun. I agree with your 'eff __________' philosophy. If you can just say, 'I'm not doing XXX and YYY and likely ZZZ' and you find yourself stress-free and happy, well it proves that you, LandsEnd and myself are right [along with others I'm sure] that allllllllllllllllllllllllllll that stuff just isn't important. Focus on the real goal, not the decor and you'll be much happier in the next few weeks.
