My cat has been throwing up for a while but hasn't had any other symptoms of illness. The vet said to change his food but that didn't work. We went to the vet yesterday and they gave us a liquid dewormer that we have to give to him for 3 days and amoxicillan which we have to give him twice a day (pill) for 2 weeks. They also want me to give him a small dose of pepcid twice a day. I feel like we are torturing him when we try to give him his meds I read online that you should try to wrap them in a towel because they will probably claw and try to bite you. My little guy is so good. He hasn't tried to bite or scratch us at all. He is just trying to wiggle free. I can't wait until we don't have to give them to him anymore bec. me and DH feel so bad for the little guy

Awwwwwww. Are you having trouble giving the pill to him? I know dogs will just eat a pill if you wrap it in something they like. But cats would probably lick around it. You could try wrapping it in a bit of meat or cheese. Something that they have to chew. I don't know if that will work, though. Good luck!

We had to give my cat medication (shoving it down her throat) and it was like we were torturing her too! I could barely do it, DH had to do it, and I was in tears - it was awful. What ended up working better for us was to give her shots. Is that an option? I couldn't do it, but DH is a paramedic and he can do it with his eyes closed. When DH wasn't home (he works nights) my FIL did it because he has nursed a lot of sick pets. It literally took 2 seconds and my cat wouldn't even flinch! Do you have someone who could do this or can one of you do this?

They sell pill pockets for cats if you think that would help. It is a treat will a hole for you to drop the pill in. I know Petco has them.
It stinks to have to do it but at least you are helping your kitty get better.
I have to pill my cats twice a day b/c they have asthma. Fortunately, they are pretty good about it - we just open and drop the pill in the back of their throats --- followed by a treat of course. My girl gets a litte annoyed but my chubby boy will pretty much eat anything.

Thanks ladies. Thankfully the liquid stuff that we had to give him is done. I thought that would be easier because you inject it into his mouth but it was worse. It must taste really horrible because the way he reacted, you would have thought that we dropped acid on his tongue! He is a little better with the pills. I am going to try to get those things in Petco, thanks!
