I feel so bad for my friends mom, what would you do?

I’m curious girls, what would you do in the following situation.

My friends mom’s gold and diamond necklace went missing during the day of.
For what ever reason the mom did not put her necklace on during the morning and left it on a table in the living room.
So the photographers and video people started doing there thing and she forgot all about the necklace. The next morning she realized that it’s no longer where she left it. She doesn’t want to accuse anyone of stealing but they tore the house apart looking for it, under rugs, between cushions everywhere and it’s nowhere to be found. Now she doesn’t know what to do, report it to the police, file a claim with the insurance company, confront everyone.

Girls what would you do if something like this happened? I’m looking for any ideas you may have so I can share with her mom. She is totally upset about this.

I would prob report it! if its a good piece of jewelry and cost a lot of money i wouldnt just let it be!

i would call up the vendors that were in the house and mention something...not that you would be accusing, but maybe it got caught to something and accidentally got put in the wrong bag! and maybe if someone did take it will fell guilty and say it got misplaced..

definitely file a report.

ETA: maybe send a note out to everyone that was there letting them know it's missing and to see if anyone has it/took it accidentally before filing a report (because you don't want to file a false claim.)

ITA!!! Especially with the latter half. This way they know she knows it's missing... and maybe it will scare them into returning it somehow. But I think if they took it then it's sad to say... but it's probably gone for good. They wouldn't want to risk losing their job for it i'm sure.

I agree with the poster who said to send out a letter first.
