I talked to my sister ( she lives in Oneonta) and mentioned to her that she mine as well tell me when my bridal shower is b/c when she comes down she has to stay with me and I have to know so I can take off work !! So my mom is not thrilled at all and i feel really bad but under these circumstances there is no way around it there are no other family members for her to stay with and we only see eachother twice a year so I would want to spend as much time as possible with her !! Anyway do you think I am being selfish ? TIA VAlerie

If thats how you feel, then have her stay. You still don't know where it is.... or who's going....
If you never get to spend that much time with her . then take off of work. You'll regret it if thats what you want to do and you don't

Thank you thats what I was thinking that she can tell me the date but not tell me where

I dont think there is anything wrong with knowing the date of your shower. I basically helped plan mine and made things easier on everyone.
I know some people really want to be surpised, but that just wasn't for me and my mom and dh's mom were fine with that. They rather have a happy bride than an unhappy one. Just explain to your mom where you are coming from, that you dont need every last detail but you'd like to be able to make the most of your sister being in town whenever that will be.
Ultimately you have no reason to feel bad.

awww...i dont think you are being selfish at all! My sis is upstate and I rarely see her anymore..if I were in ur situation, I would want the same thing. You make a valid point about ur job...so even tho. they arent thrilled..there isnt any other way.

NO there is nothing wrong with that. U will be suprised for everything else, how the place looks where it is, who's coming. DOn't worry about it, it will just be nive to spend some time with your sister if you don't get to see her often

I agree with all nothing wrong with knowing 'when' you still don't know where or who is coming...and you have a very good reason you wanna spend time with your sis AND you have to schedule to be off of work...so all justifiable don't feel bad!
