L, Your NOT stupid, this is just something your not aware of. Personally I have no clue about it. I am also severally domestically challenged. I'm super excited about getting a SO I can learn to cook & do laundry. I think we learn things of this nature when we need to or when an opportunity arises. Don;t be SO hard on yourself

Re: i feel SO stupid!
i just had a long conversation about this with my mom. i'm 24 and don't know a lot of things i feel like i should know about my lady parts. my schools, including my college health and bio classes, didnt really teach anything useful. they taught us what parts did what, but didnt explain the ovulation, or all the parts of pregnancy or whatever.
i feel like there is a lot i should know that i don't, and i get embarassed b/c i have to ask when something comes up.
I definitely think schools should work a little harder in that area.

I am a physician assistant and even after going through school I still learn more things about fertility/ovulation that I didn't know. I think the best thing to do is to relax and have fun. If it doesn't happen after 6 months then you can start following your cycles but honestly stressing out over can actually make it less likely to happen. good luck!

Re: i feel SO stupid!
Definately talk with your gyno next time you go.....suuuuuper important! I was lucky to work in a women's health clinic in my younger years where I learned a lot.....this is one area you don't want to lack knowledge in.....I have already lost a young friend (21) to ovarian cancer......SUPER SCARY....

don't feel stupid.. my period is always off every month and when i go to a doctor and they ask me the start of my last cycle i can't even remember that.. so don't even ask me when i'm ovulating..lmao! i think it's just something we aren't aware of until we are actually trying to have a baby.. even though it would probably be helpful when trying not to have a baby too...lmao

I am in the same boat! Ovulation predictors? It's all new to me (AND i am an RN). It almost sounds difficult to get pregnant! I am hoping for a honeymoon baby so I've been reading up! Here's a link thats been helpful:
Don't feel stupid at all....so many woman don't know about their own bodies.....just by talking about it you have taken the most important step in learning about YOU......congrats!

i agree it's nothign t feel stupid about.. i had a good friend a few years ago who had to school me on everything involving my body that my mom didn't teach me.. lol.and it was embarassing that i didn't know this stuff.. and now i have fh who apparently was a gyno/fertility doctor in his past life because he knows absolutely everything there is to how to conceive, ovulations, cycles..

There is a really good book called Taking Charge of your Fertility. It might be worth checking it out if you still have questions.

Re: i feel SO stupid!
don't worry so much! I know it is important to you to be proactive about your fertility but my mom and aunt were listening to stuff i was telling them about getting pregnant and between the two of them they had six kids and they STILL had no idea what i was talking about ( and my mom had me at 35)
so while it is important to be aware. . . it is also important to have faith and be positive!!
eta: in case that sounded in any way condescending i am the same way . . . i have been reading up on WebMD and the TTC board on LIF too lol

haha- watch- you will get pregnant on the first try..lol
FHs cousins have a competition b/c 2 of them got pregnant on the first try so its like their sperm is stronger and smarter and the others have to keep up...lol
We have to keep practicing until we can afford a house thought..lol
