...FMIL's aunt looked me dead in the eye and told me to not dare wear white to my wedding....she then proceeded to tell me why and how only a young girl (way under 20) should ever wear a white dress to her wedding. She then told FMIL she should wear white to the wedding!!! I seriously hope this meanie head doesn't come to the wedding...I'd have a hard time smiling at her after that. (She hasn't RSVPd yet.)

white has nothing to do with purity. it's a symbol of wealth...only wealthy people could wear a white dress since it soils so easily and is useless afer wearing it a few times.
i don't know how it got the reputation of symbolizing purity when it has nothing to do with that.
