and it actually scared me. I was holding Annalise so she could say goondnight to Daddy. As she leaned to go into his arms I felt a hard kick just below my belly button. It scared me for a second since it was unexpected. I looked down thinking it was her, but I realized she had no shoes on and her feet dangle lower than that. I said 'ooh' and then told DH it was the baby's first real kick. How silly of me to get scared when this is my 2nd one. DH tried to feel for a few second but it stopped. About 2 hours later I almost jumped again and DH looked. He always thinks something is wrong. I said, 'Sorry, it was the baby kicking again'. He thinks I am crazy already, but this must make me seem insane. I have only felt swooshing type movements until now. I am 16 weeks.

You're so lucky! I haven't even felt swooshing movements yet at 16 weeks.

That must be so exciting-I'm almost 15 weeks and have felt little 'bubbles popping' but I can't wait to feel the real thing.

Re: I felt the first 'real' kick..
Isn't it just amazing how the baby goes from so tiny that you barely know it's there to someone who can kick hard enough to startle you??
