I found a nice cruise for a HM!!

It is on the Tahitian Princess. It is a 12 night cruise.
First you fly to Hawaii.
It takes you around to Kaui,Maui and Hilo.
Then your at sea for 2 days.
Then it takes you to Christmas Island, which I heard is really nice.
Two more days at sea.
Then Bora Bora, Raiatia, Moorea, and Papeete.
Then you fly home from Papeete.

It sounds like a really nice cruise, for those who would like to see both places, but want to make the trip cheaper.

Check out Princess cruise line website.

I just called because it would solve our problems of deciding on Hawaii or Tahiti.
A balcony room & airfare is $3,764.10 per person!! Not bad at all for a cruise and seeing all those islands. I am going to look for reviews on this ship and trip. I dont know if i want to be stuck on a boat for our honeymoon. I'm also afraid of a lot of older people. And its great you fly into hawaii, but leave papeete!

That's very cool! Our 10-day tahiti HM with air from NY is about the same price.. $7,500! We were thinking of doing a cruise like that around the islands of French Polynesia, but we wanted to experience the food, culture, beach bungalows and the famous overwater bungalows of moorea and bora bora!!

The cruise does sound amazing though... def go for the balcony room if you do it.

We were considering the Tahitian Princess' cruise to Tahiti and the Cook Islands. I've heard many great things about that cruise! You should have an amazing trip!

Check out Cruise Critic for trip reviews - it has a forum similar to this one (click on 'boards' on the top), where you can ask questions and learn all about your cruise and excursions!

I am also considering cruising the south pacific. FH and I are just not sure if we are 'cruise people'. We are also concerned about not getting a 'full' experience. Being able to properly get a feel for the culture, etc. We are travel dorks and enjoy that sort of thing. We are also fly by the seat of our pants kinda people, so the time restrictions may not be for us. Some positives are that the ship stays overnight at several of the islands which might help with the rushed feeling you get on most cruises. Plus theres is the food factor, being that it is ridiculously expensive to eat in the SP, (even for NYers standards). I hate the idea of allotting a big wad of our spending money on food.

We also looked in to Tahitian Princess. It is a nice cruise, although it is an older ship. At any rate, I really like that one port of call is Christmas Island, I have heard such nice things about it. If you go to Yahoo & search 'Tahitian Princess Cruise Reviews' you will find a great source for tips, etc.

Another cruise we looked into is here, Paul Gaugin. It is a bit more expensive then TP, but by all accounts I have read thus far totally worth it. The food is rated higher than most of the land resort as well as the service.

We also checked out the Paul Gauguin and it's now in the lead for our list of possible honeymoon destinations.

For the Paul Gauguin leaving 11/04/06, I got the following quotes:
Cat. C (with balcony) - $2,869.00
Cat. B (with verandah and butler service) - $3,869.00
Port Charges and Handling Fee- $210.00

I've heard great things about the Paul Gauguin! If you do the cruise, definitely try to stay a night or 2 post-cruise in an overwater bungalow on tahiti or moorea (if money and time allows)!

From what I've heard though, it's best to stay there pre-cruise because suppsedly no matter where you stay after that 'it won't measure up to the Paul Gauguin' IMHO, you can't beat the over-water bungalows, but to start paying for food and drink after a week of not doing so would bother me. We'd stay before the cruise in order to beat the jet lag and because we have a few days between the HM and our wedding.

That sounds amazing! I think the great things about the cruise is that you can visit so many islands in one trip. The price sounds very reasonable, especially since most of the food (from the ship at least) is probably included!
