I finally decided to have my cake done by Cheryl Kleinman / Bijoux Doux
They are two talented bakers who have joined forces. The cakes tasted fabulous and the samples they gave us to try were HUGE!
This is my cake (but instead of the blue marbleized look - it will be subtle shades of pink) and the backround will be ivory with a sheen to it.
This cake is three tiers -- since we have so many people, ours will be 5-6 tiers!!
The flavor will be lemon pound cake with rasperry jam and vanilla buttercream filling.
For anyone looking for an outside cake vendor, I highly reccomend dealing with them. I've gone to a ton of tastings (I exagerated a bit!) and found them to be very professional and friendly.
I'm so glad you found a baker! You must have tasted everywhere! Yum!

That's beautiful! Congrats! Where are they located? And if you don't mind me asking, what is the price range?

Re: I found my cake vendor!
THank you everybody! Finding the cake was harder than I thought since I had a certain look in mind and I didn't want to go crazy with the budget.
They have a bakery on mulberry street (212-226-0948) but their main location is now in brooklyn -- the address is 448 atlantic avenue but you need to make an appointment because they are not always there. THe # is 718-237-2271
am470 - the cake looks like it has a lace overlay on it -- so that the blue peeks through the lace. I loved the detailing on that
aimerliny - the price for this cake was $9 a slice -- which seems to be in the middle range of all the vendors I went to see. I'm also doing a two layers of sheetcake to cut the cost a bit.
HOpe this helps
