I went to the restaurant a second time on Friday where I will be having my ceremony and reception. I have been looking at this place for a while online debating about it. It's really pretty, they provide 2 rooms for 4 hours and allow me to bring in my own dj. It's an indoor secret garden with a skylight and waterfall where the ceremony will be held and a second room for the dinner. Me and FH went a few weeks ago and had lunch and spoke with the manager. The food was delicious, the service was excellent the price is great ($53pp including open bar) and the 2 rooms they privide are beautiful and unique. So, we went back with FMIL to speak with the manager about specifics and to put a deposit down. We had dinner first, and again the food was spectacular and the service was outstanding. The manager is very nice and flexible. He answered all of my questions and gave us an even better deal price wise than I imagined. But when it came time to put the deposit down I FREAKED OUT! I almost started crying which both my FH and FMIL and the manager all commented on! I was trying to figure out why I was so emotionally distraught. I thought maybe it was the money then I thought that I am just a lunatic bride -to-be! Did anyone else get this anxious?

Re: I freaked out...
Probably just reality hitting you that this is actually happening. You're getting married!
Either that or parting with the money. I almost cried everytime we had to leave a payment at our hall. And I will definitely be crying when we have to make final payments!!

Making a final selection for your reception is very emotional. You were probably envisioning your wedding and it all became a reality to you...pretty normal I'd say

Re: I freaked out...
your hall sounds wonderful!
don't worry about being emotional..the whole process is like this and personally, i cried when vendors called asking about deposits... every day, it seems more real and being nervous about all of it is normal!

Yes, totally normal!!
And your restaurant sounds like a place I was considering (Trattoria DT)...you described it to a T. So happy to hear that they are wonderful to deal with. Happy planning!

You are totally normal! Or at least the same as me. I get nauseaus and teary every time I put down a deposit on something. It's so much money! And I get emotional because I'm so excited about everything and the more things I cross of the list the more 'real' it becomes. I understand!

Re: I freaked out...
I think it is also very normal. I did not cry at first, but it did feel kinda weird being that we have been talking about it, but then when you finally make a choice and deposit, it becomes extremely REAL!! hehe. I actually woke up the next morning with an anxiety attack, and started to cry, not because I was sad or anything, just that the reality hit! (and of course money has alot to do with the stress). Good Luck

Re: I freaked out...
awww---you poor thing!! it's okay. it happens to the best of us. sometimes it's just the overwhelming feeling knowing that you are totally committing to this place and it's like , 'WOW! this is TRULY happening!'
for example--i bought a new car last september...my 1st brand new car, totally in MY name only...and when the salesman got me the price and payment i wanted, right down to the T...and was like 'Do you have a deal?' i actually started getting dizzy. when i started signing the papers to change my insurance over, i asked 'Is the air in here getting thinner, or is it me?'
LOL -- when i went to sign the actual finance contract--i was ready to pass out! i look back at it and have to laugh--although at that moment it wasn't so funny!

Letting go of that much money is nerve racking. I probably would have tried to wait until after I left the restuarant, but that is normal.

We never made it to the NYC venues. Jericho Terrace was our last and final LI hall appointment and we said if it didn't work out we would go the NYC restaurant/loft route. But JT worked better than we imagined so we had it there. But TDT is in all the wedding location magazines and they were so friendly on the phone. I would have done it there in a heartbeat.

Not at all!! It's normal to second guess ourselves, but I think you made the right choice. And it sounds like you're getting an unbelievable deal for a NYC location! DH loved the waterfall and skylight idea...it really was the only restaurant we were considering since the other places were lofts.
