from my registry - 3 gifts - (from bbb) all wraped - i called my mom and the person that sent it is attending the shower - do people do this normally? am i supposed to just open the gift at home? whats the deal with this? i only thought that they send gifts to your home if they cant make it to the shower?

that's odd, i never heard of sending a gift if they are attending the shower. maybe they didn't realize they were supposed to bring it. could you give them to your mom and have her bring them to the shower?? can you handle waiting to open them? lol

well i know whats in it (lol) bc there was a note and kinda of a receipt saying what it was

I got a gift yesterday too, but it was addressed to my MOH for me to open at the shower, but I saw the address and I know who its from. So I am assuming she isn't coming, but maybe your guests didn't know to bring it to the shower?

I had a lot of gifts sent to my brother's house (shipping address), people sometimes don't want to carry heavy bags with them to showers. My poor brother had to transport everything to the shower's location.

when we purchased some place settings of my cousins China.. my mom just had it all shipped to her house rather than my mom taking a chance on it breaking

This is what I was thinking too. If they are heavy items they can't carry them....or maybe they didn't have them available in the store and instead of shipping it to their house they had it shipped to the address you have on your registry.

ALOT of my shower gifts got sent to me, instead of who ordered them. When people order online, most registrys send the gifts automatically to you. Its a pain...but my fmil brought everything that was delivered to me to my shower so I could open them there. Alot of times people don't even realize that it is being shipped to you, until they realize that they never put in their address.

That's a very good point. It could have been an accident and it was supposed to go to the purchaser.

i got a few gifts from people who coulnd't make it to the shower sent to my house. i guess they ship to the address associated with the registry. i opened it .. i couldn't help myself i can't see bringing it to the shower if you know what it is. then lugging it home again.

It's easier... I did this to baby showers. Wrapped something small and took it. It'll make life easier for you too...imagine transporting large gifts!

YES! Because they don't want to carry it. So what you do is as the gifts come in write the names and what they brought you so you can annouce it at the shower.

I work in a bank and I keep getting gifts off our registry from customers....They love me!!! I keep telling my mom and sister, by the time my shower comes, there won't be anything left.... LOL

I got several gifts before my shower and these were from people that were attending the shower.
What I did is I just made a mental note of who gave what (mind you my shower was a surprise) and I knew if I saw them after I sent the thank you card I was going to mention it as I was opening gifts -they really appreciated me mentioning it as I was opening the gifts and they were surprised that I remembered everything off the top of my head.

Yes, same here! I got A LOT of gifts from friends and family who don't feel like carrying it to the shower. It's fine b/c I got 70 girls coming and don't want to have to carry all those gifts home anyway!
