I got a new job!!

So I didn't get to tell my boss today. I went to HR to make sure that I was going through the right channels because my job was eliminated 2x's and the role i'm in now is temporary 6-9 mos with the option to leave at any point and still get my severance, etc....

The HR rep tells me my position went permanent, and that I no longer get severance if I leave. So.. now i am pissed off as all hell and have a 3rd meeting tomorrow with HR to find out what's going on and who's going to give me my severance...

Any advice from anyone on questions to ask? Anything??? I'm tryin gto keep my cool, but it's very hard to do.

Exactly! They definitely should have notified you in writing! If you have it in writing the job was a temp then they have no choice but to pay the severence. It's HR's fault they didn't cover their butt when it went permanent! Stand your ground!

Thanks for your support everyone. I'm not sure what to do. But I have yet another meeting with HR tomorrow, and it's in their best interest to do the right thing here.

So... here's the update.. I met with HR again today and they're telling me the only way for me to collect my severance and leave is for my manager to tell his boss he doesn't need me. Which.. supposedly he's going to work on. But.. his boss is out until Monday!! This will never happen. Even if he says it just to cut me loose, his boss won't buy it and wants me there because the business needs me.

Tell me this LI Weddings... how is the fact that the business NEEDS ME my problem again? Exactly.. It's not!!!

So... I told them i'm going higher up because i'm am not satisfied with my results!!! THis is ridiculous!!! I am totally getting screwed here because the HR guy changed his mind.. What is that?? He remembers part of our conversation, not the whole thing. Selective Memory? I THINK SO!

So.. the drama continues...

Well everyone... I'm here to give you the update on my severance situation. I met with HR a few times, and after being persistant, I finally won!!! I'm getting my severance!!! I'll get my 60 day working notice on Wed 6/15, and I'll leave by 6/23. I start my new job 6/27. I fought HR and won!!! So.... chalk one up for the little people!!

I can laugh now, but it was a rough time. All of you who've gone against HR and lost, this victory is for you!!!! Thank you everyone for your support and for helping me keep my cool and not fly off the handle!!!
