It's from my mom's friend in NC. It's a handmade 'wish vase.' You put it by your guest book and then the guests put wishes in it. You open it on your first anniversary (or you can wait longer too). (The bottom is thinner porcelin)

On the bottom. It's a thin, perforated porcelin. You're supposed to put a cloth over it and tap it gently with a hammer. (Because of the perforations, you can really only put dried flowers in it.)
