I got laid off

My company is having massive lay offs and my depts. lay offs happened this week.
My last day is tomorrow . With the wedding coming up I could use the time off, and the gave me a really good serevance package that will cover me to the end of the year so I will just relax from now till the wedding.
We were planning on moving to Florida in January, I guess now we can go earlier since I have a lot of free time and will still have income.
I'm still sad though, I have grown so attached to everyone and not everyone can 'afford' to be laid off. It will be so hard to leave tomorrow.
Looks like I will be on here a whole lot more.

what field do you work in? Can you get compensation and unemployment?

Im very sorry. Just keep trying to find something new and keep positive. You will find something else. It may not be next week but you will. This may be a start of a new beginning. I think things always happen for a reason.

I totally know how that feels. I lost my job last year and it was terrible. It is very hard when you make friends and become your own little family and know it will never be the same.

Wait- You work with my mom right??

Shes nervous too, shes been a WRECK since this started! She didnt get laid off, but the word is 'YET' ...they are reviewing her job duties now and even if she stays they may let her go in April when they close the office down...

I feel so bad for you all! Hang in there!!

ETS- she told me what the severence pay was so I agree if you can make it on that, think of this as a blessing that you can have all this PAID time off to plan the rest of your wedding details..no time to have to take off of work and can focus on moving!

I'm sorry. My good friend at work just got laid off this week and I've been so angry and hardly did any work the rest of the week. We are like a family there and it sucks now! Best of luck, now you can focus on planning!
