O.K. So after going to Kleinfelds, Babylon Bridal (love them) and Macy's in Lake Grove. I decided on a dress at Macy's by Demetrios.
I was positive from day one I was going with an off the shoulders dress. Because I hate my arms.
When I tried on #932 (the one I thought I would love) It was horrible on me. The manager there asked me to try on a halter top, which i was SO AGAINST, but I did, and fell in love. So after all was said and done. I did not go with anything I imagined I would have, but am happy as can be!
I love it!

It's funny how things work out. I tried on my dress just to appease the saleslady. I wasn't crazy about it on the hanger but it wound up being the one!

Beautiful! I actually tried on that dress! I loved the detail under the bust, it was so slimming!

I have a similar story to yours. I went into a bridal salon to try a dress I found in a magazine. The dress looked so beautiful on the model, but once I tried it on...not flattering at all!!!! I just got swallowed in it. On my way to the fitting room, I grabbed a dress off the rack that caught my attention because of it's color. It was a cream colored wedding dress, and the only reason i grabbed it was because I wanted to see what the cream would look like against my skin color. The moment I tried the dress on, and walked out of the fitting room, my mother looked at me and said 'this is the one!!'
I had no choice but to agree with her...it was soooo beautiful. I purchased the dress, and didn't even bother looking for any other dresses. I got the dress in Ivory though! :)

that happened to my SIL. she ended up w something she was totally against trying on...it's funny how that works out sometimes.

It's very true about the dress on the hanger. I never wanted a strapless until I tried one on :)
