I got my first wedding/engagement gift!

I got my first real engagement/wedding gift in the mail today! FH and I got one other gift, a gift certificate to a restaurant from a neighbor of his (which was very appreciated, trust me, but it's a bit different), but this is the first gift where I got a package in the mail and didn't expect it and had the suspense of opening, and it was actually something for the 'house' (the house that we don't have).

I was totally confused because my name was spelled completely wrong (like not just one or two wrong letters) so I wondered how it could be from family... but I checked the return address and figured out that it was from a Great Aunt I hardly ever see and who isn't exactly the most lucid woman on the planet, so it made more sense.

Anyway, the gift itself was my aunt's usual humorous mis-hit... a big clunky glass platter (which will certainly be useful for entertaining, but is not at all to my taste), and a cookbook of 'Divine Kosher Cuisine' none of which probably fits within my lower-my-cholesterol diet (not to mention the fact that I don't keep Kosher, and besides which, my fiance is Catholic). Gotta love those relatives!

But it was really really sweet of her to think of me, and it definitely was a bit exciting!

hey congrats!!! My first wedding engagement fits were the Lenox wedding picture frame....The one where you put your invite and a wedding pic on the other side...I love it!!

the funny thing about it is that I don't know that I will! At least, not unless we have an engagement party this summer, as my mom wants to. We've actually been engaged over a year now, we just didn't make a big fuss about it at first (I needed some adjustment time... I was only 21, it was a little overwhelming, plus we didn't even pick a date until almost a year after we were engaged).

So... I don't know if my aunt just didn't find out until now, or what! It was just so random!

I had an aunt give me a really bizarre looking green glass vase and set of kitchen utensils such as potato peeler. I currently live at my parents house, did she really think I had a great need to store a potato peeler for a year?

Relatives give the weirdest gifts, don;t they?

Regardless of what the actual gift was, isn't it fun to get presents?!?!

I keep looking at the registry -- and my MOH told me not to.

thats so cool!!!! One of my ggod friends also gave me an engagement gift (1st one too) It was a Jack LaLane Juicer!!!!
