I got my marriage license today

Just needed my drivers license and passport, it was very easy. We were in and out in 1/2 hour.
Still not sure about the name-I did the hyphen but having doubts.
It was fun, it feels very official

Re: I got my marriage license today

I went to the Town Hall in New Rochelle-in Westchester. Its not too far from where I live. I actually tried to go last week in Brooklyn and they were were very rude and kicked me out even though the office wasn't closed yet. They actually all have their own rules so make sure you check which ID you need.
You have to put your new last name on the form. I had heard but it was still a little weird. I couldn't commit to the total change. The woman I spoke to said its still legal to have a hyphenated name and use just your own or just his last name if you wish. I figure that buys me some time.

Re: I got my marriage license today

I went today to Hempstead. What a cushy job they have. Very professional and we were in and out within a half hour.

They ask is this your first marriage (yes)
2 forms of ID (we brought passport and license)
Your/His father's name - was he born in USA
Your/His mother's maiden name - was she born in USA
How would you like your name?
Where would you like the certificate mailed 4-6 weeks after the wedding.
You bring the certificate to the officiant and they mail it in.
Done

It was quite nice, there were a few people getting married while we were there. It was the easiest thing I had to do involving the wedding.
