I got my New York Cares Secret Santa Letter

I got my letter in the mail today from an 11 year old boy, and I am kind of upset about it!

This 11 year old child asked for a Playstation 2 game - Grand Theft Auto. I want to fulfil his Christmas wish, but I do not feel like this is an appropriate game for an 11 year old!! There are half naked girls on it, violence against cops, and car theft!!!

Should I send another Playstation 2 game?

Maybe you could send a gift certificate to like Best Buy so he can go and pick a game out and then you won't feel guilty about what he gets. I don't think thats right, does anyone screen the childrens letters before sending them out. I agree, that is definitely not an appropriate game for and 11 year old.

I agree, a gift certificate is probably a good idea. I do not think that is an appropriate gift, either.

I would never give a gift like that to an 11 year old. I think the suggestion of a gift certificate is a great idea.

I wouldn't feel comfortable buying that, either. I guess the best thing to do would be the gift certificate.

my husband works in the video game industry and they WILL not sell to a minor a game likt GTA....and they make sure to ask parents if they know the rating and content of the game! It amazes me.....I would go with the gift certificate to either Best Buy or GameStop (which is ALL video games)

Thanks everyone. A gift card is a good idea.

Also, I was just looking at the Toys R Us flyer and I saw there is a new Playstation 2 game out, Sega Superstars. It has 12 games on it, and since its new he probably doesn't have it. I might get that since it may be more fun for a kid to open.
